Until I get this table cleared off today no work begins on the purple star blocks! I decided to remodel the waist band on a pair of pants that is just a wee bit too tight for comfort so that stuff plus all the purple fabric is scattered on the table. Of course it would be ideal to loose that extra inch around the waist but that is not going to happen quickly as we all know-I’m not into starvation LOL
The purple blocks did get pressed and all of the blocks for the quilt laid on the floor for a photo – some of the blocks are squared up others aren’t – that will all get taken care of later. 36 Patch Blocks (no name quilt right now)
And the Country Charmer had progress as well on Wednesday night
And the orange – these are just one row of these blocks so it really wasn’t more time than usual devoted to the quilting. I have been planning on learning how to make a pair of socks now that my sweater plan failed on me – moving on! I realized I didn’t have the right size needles so ordered them and watching the tutorials in the meantime and will watch again as I try to make them. I haven’t checked yet but if I decide to go with circular needles instead of DPN what size cord do I need for socks? There are so many of you that are so knowledgeable I’m sure someone has the answer. And no I do not think I will try magic loop for now – but stick with one at a time until I see if I can get it figured out (with my track record on knitting that might not be possible!)
I have been working on the garden plot as much as I can when we have days of no rain – right now the section I am working on will not be planted this summer – I am laying down plastic to kill weeds and dumping the mulch on top to hold it down – in the fall the mulch will be raked out of the way and raised beds will go in one at a time and mulch will be in the walk ways between the beds and on the beds.
I know cardboard can be used instead of plastic – but I have the black heavy weight plastic and I don’t have near enough cardboard. We are expecting more rain (of course) all of next week starting on Saturday and so far they change their minds of course as to how much right now 2-4 inches of rain that we do not need. I really do not think I will bother with planting much more – maybe tomatoes if mine don’t look any better soon – one is yellow from too much rain and none are growing well right now. The big mass of green that you see is mint that I intend to dig out in the fall – of course that is growing really well LOL – this is a “hobby garden” not a “feed the family for a year” kind of garden – we wouldn’t survive if it was me gardening!

Dear Karen,
You have progress in all areas of your garden and your sewing room. The purple blocks looks great with all their friends on the floor. Have a wonderful day.
We are having really hot, humid weather here. I’ll be out in it a bit today, but otherwise, I’ll be indoors where it’s cool. I hope your rain stays away. Your garden and your quilting projects are coming along well!
Your 36 patch blocks look so pretty all together! I love scrappy patchwork blocks like that. I know how you’re feeling about getting some cleaning and organizing done around the house – I’m feeling way behind on that kind of thing here. Need to get to it! Your mulching project is ambitious, but will be helpful to the garden in the long run!
Love the look of those blocks all together so colourful and cheery. You are doing far more work in the garden than I am this year. I did a heavy pruning last year which seems to have helped and since I’m not growing any vegetables, I just have to maintain the weeding. Good luck with the weather cooperating and the growing of things you want to thrive!
You don’t have to worry about cord size. You just order by the needle size and it will be right. Hugs,
36 squares is looking so cool! I have some clothing repairs to do too, now that you mention it. Great garden plans!
Your 36 patch will make a darling Freckle quilt.
