And some quilting of course. First the piecing – I had started another Rose Garden block the other day and meant to get finished on a block yesterday but got busy with other things and didn’t
I need to press these flying geese units and then finish up the block – maybe today – should be just about 100 don’t think I will be doing anything outside again today other than the first thing in the morning check on the tomatoes.
Which reminds me does anyone know from looking at this tomato what could be biting chunks out of some of the tomatoes – the fence is tight at the bottom nothing can come under and chicken wire is fixed in place on the bottom 24 inches or so also – so whatever it is if it isn’t the big fat green caterpillar bugs has to be coming over the top of the fence but there are no signs of anything doing that. Doesn’t matter if it is green or almost ripe this is what it looks like – I laid it there for the photo – whatever it is – is leaving them on the plant
The geese units
And quilting from Thursday night – can you believe August is about here – talk about time flying.

Grasshoppers will eat holes in tomatoes also if it’s not the tomato worms.
Squirrels?
Could a chipmunk get in? I know your frustration, our peas were looking good and then one morning we found they were all chomped at the very ground! So disappointing. Yes indeed how is time flying by so darn fast!
I hope it’s not chipmunks. They will do that. They will eat the beefsteaks from the stem end as well. They got through my chicken wire too. It was so bad we stopped growing tomatos. Lots of work and no product gets frustrating. Good luck.
It is always a surprise when August rolls around, and then I’m really glad all over again that I’m retired from teaching! I was wondering if squirrels were getting to your tomatoes. They could certainly climb the fence. That’s what they do to our apples – take one bite and then throw them to the ground. That’s a pretty red print for your next Rose Garden block!
I had the same bites from chipmunks, little rascals!
I was going to suggest squirrels or chipmunks, too. Not that I know all that much about gardening. July flew by! Your progress is looking good on your projects!
Dear Karen,
A friend put up a little owl camera, and recorded the culprits coming to her garden. She and her husband was surprised by who their bandits we’re! They had raccoons… with the heat, it has been time indoors. This summer has been very productive in the sewing room. Your projects are looking great. Have an amazing weekend.
My guess would be squirrels, or maybe even birds…
Piecing or quilting both of your projects are beautiful.
Have a great weekend.
I found a baby possum eating mine once. His tail was wrapped around the wire of the tomato cage and he was hanging upside down while munching away on my tomatoes!
I love reading your blog. Your hand quilted projects are gorgeous!
The bite reminds me of when we had a turtle biting cantaloupes, but we didn’t have a fence like you do.
I’d think a furry critter like squirrels, chipmunks or raccoons. Sorry. Stay cool.
No help on the critter bite from me. The quilting is looking great. Stay cool… just got back from horses and 1.5 hours in the heat did me in!
Karen veo que tus tomates le gustan a algún extraño. tus bloques rojos me gusta.
Buen domingo
