Stars

First of all thank you to the two readers Paula and Maria that quickly responded to my inquiry on yarn yesterday – I really do not know why Raverly didn’t pop in my head as a place to look to see if anyone had yarn for sale.  I am a member of Raverly but as knitting and crochet are secondary hobbies I really don’t spend much time looking at it for a resource.  I will have to remember this in the future.  After measuring what I have already knitted and measuring my arm span I decided 3 extra skeins was plenty and ordered from a seller and the package is on its way – thanks!  (I’m ok at google searches but not an expert searcher by any means)

I got busy on making my dark blue stars yesterday for my RSC 21 quilt – I will show all the blocks together for the link up on Saturday but here are the two I made yesterday.  I am going to keep the stars on the wall for awhile to look at – none are squared up at the moment and need to be done at some point.

Next up as I am taking a month break from applique and Love Letters I decided I took a long enough break from The Rose Garden and better get back to work on it – I only have 7 blocks completed – that is pitiful I really liked the kit when I bought it and have all the pieces cut so I need to spend the rest of the month piecing – I don’t even remember when I worked on this one last.

I put one of the blocks out to jolt my memory on what pieces go where!  Each block is about 12.5 inches and has something close to 140 pieces in each block – no wonder I took a break from it!  If I ever get done with this quilt I have another long term quilt that I haven’t worked on in ages that I need to drag out – The Hertfordshire Quilt – it has been several years since I worked on that one.  This one I was pressing seams open as pieces are small and all that adds more time.

I finished the side of the Pineapple Quilt that I was working on and rolled the frame down ready to start over here on the left side.  I might roll it down just a tad more before I get started but I don’t like to work too close to the rail so might just leave it.  I am linking to Wendy’s Quilts and More — Alycia Quilts —

Even though it has been hot outside we have had enough of a breeze and not excessive humidity most days that I have been outside reading in the morning, tending to the garden (5 tomatoes picked yesterday) and knitting.  I am still reading the Harry Bosch series and I think I am rereading book 6 right now – I have most of them on my kindle but years since I read some of them so that they are like new to me parts only vaguely familiar.  I will get tired of Harry solving crimes and move on to others I’m sure.

AccuQuilt and Connecting Threads are still having a new sale every day I believe all this week – links on the sidebar – thanks to all that order through the links I appreciate it.

Mornings and afternoons on the porch have been lovely here, too. Your blue stars are stunning. Nice to see you back on the Rose Garden.

    Dear Karen,
Your stars are done, wow. Your rose quilt is a beautiful kit and pattern. Yes, the Hertfordshire quilt is a Labour intensive quilt. Mine is in the bag, the Nine patch borders has not been sewn on, maybe I need to finally sew those on? Love the quilting on the pineapple quilt. Have a fantastic friday.

Your star blocks look wonderful! I’d forgotten about Rose Garden. I’m glad it’s making a comeback, but I can see why you needed the break. It certainly is pretty though!

The stars look great and love the pineapple quilting. Glad you are able to get outside in the mornings. I’m missing the 60 degree weather up north – hot and humid all day. What to do but sew inside! Have a great Friday.

The blue RSC stars are really pretty! I agree with you from our conversation yesterday, that your two different RSC projects for this year wouldn’t go together. Your plans/ideas for them sound great! Glad you found some of the yarn you needed and also got out the pretty Rose Garden project. Nice to have that all cut so you can work on it whenever you want!

Beautiful blue star blocks, Karen. And wow on that Rose Quilt…so many pieces per block! The block you shared is gorgeous. I would love to see more of these blocks. It sounds like you have a nice balance to your days with reading and gardening in the cooler mornings.

Those navy blue stars are gorgeous. Hopefully having a long break from your rose quilt will mean you can return with enthusiasm!

Chirp has been nice for introducing me to some old, but new to me, mystery series. My oldest UFO is 23 years so don’t worry about your Hertfordshire quilt!?
