I have so totally lost interest in the applique but I swear I will finish this final block – I just have to get myself in the mood to get it done! I have laid the fabric out over the frame so that I will see it spread out and need to just sit and get busy like I usually do with it. The weather just seems to have side tracked me and trying to get done with stuff outside while I can. I probably need to just sit aside the quilting for an evening or two and work on it instead of quilting. Or I might need to choose a different color and use the brown for another star but not for the applique
Quilting on the Drunkard’s Path on Sunday night.
Sorting through the yarn for the afghan I need to roll a couple of the skein’s into balls still well do that while watching tv.
I was checking to see if there are any updates on when or if the AQS quilt shows will be happening in 2022 and so far they are scheduling !! it has been a long time since I went to one. It will be nice if they are not cancelled. I found that there is a new location added to the list and it is only 2 hours from me! March 23 to 26, 2022 Branson and AQS quilt show – how neat if this is not cancelled – it would be a long day but I could actually drive there see the show, do a little shopping and drive home the same day – but I would want to stay overnight I bet so that I wouldn’t be driving home through the mountain curves in the dark. The whole way is through the Ozark Mountains and very few straight stretches of road – it is actually close to 80 miles but takes a good 2 hours usually because of the curves.

The browns you have chosen for the last applique block are very nice and look quite sophisticated. But perhaps you’d like it better with just a pop of color? I have been hung up on an applique block myself, and I think it’s because there are some small, fiddly pieces I’m not looking forward to working with. I’m distracted because I’m also working on a lap quilt for my brother’s friend who has been driving him to appointments, etc. Will get back to that applique after that’s done.
Hi Karen, normally I don’t roll up the skeins. I just pull the central thread and leave the yarn as it is, the thread does not become tangled and is super easy to use. Hope you find out your applique mojo, but I understand what you are feeling.
It’s frustrating when we lose interest in a certain project – I know because it’s happening with at least one of mine, too! I hope you’ll continue with that last applique block because that’s such a beautiful project. Maybe it’s the browns that aren’t inspiring you? I agree with Marianne, though – they seem like they will make a very sophisticated block. A trip up to Branson for a quilt show would be fun! Convince your husband to go along, and plan several days of it!
If only we lived close to each other I’d go to the show with you. I miss them but I think my wallet is happier! I think the last show I was at was 2019 Road to California.
I find interesting that our reaction to a color can put a project on hold for weeks, months or even years!
I feel your pain in the delay of applique and agree with the previous comment about color. I love your blocks, and especially the layered orange one you made.
You complete so many wonderful projects! Give yourself some credit for all the consistency and accomplishments! It is o.k. to take a mental break and let our mind marinate on ideas.
Why not add some gold and rust in for the flowers if you decide to stay with brown. I can also see changing to a totally new color to keep your interest in it.
I love Wanda’s idea to add in some gold and rust with the browns. But Wanda always has great color ideas!
Karen I am about 80 miles from Paducah. I have only missed one show since 1991. I am thrilled that there is one in Branson next year! I am about
5 hours away. There should be plenty
Of rooms!
Karen, your drunkards path blocks look so great and your hand quilting is amazing!
Hugs
Tazzie
Ooh, I ought to see if there will be any quilt shows near me.
