Patchwork

I needed one more RSC 36 patch block (now Butterflies in Flight) on the wall for the design so I looked through my boxes to see which colors of pre-cut 2.5 inch squares I had and that was black so counted out 36 and got it done.

After a few more minor changes I got it sewed – it needs to be pressed yet – maybe today? I would like to get another one or two butterfly blocks done as well.

The day was nice so the trellis for the Blackberry bushes went up and got those tied on until it trains itself to keep going.  We are going to have 3 more nice days before it gets chilly again so I’m not sure how much inside stuff I will get done but about the only outside stuff for me to do now is mulching the fall leaf’s and they of course will be dropping for weeks to come so do I wait until they all fall down or do them more than once so they aren’t as thick (with the lawnmower)

The raspberries don’t look as well but I hope they will perk up by spring – by not as well I mean the leaf’s aren’t as green – they did get really long this summer and were ready for a trellis.

I did get a little more crochet done and hope the color’s show up a little better

I like the name “Butterflies in Flight,” as those blocks do look like they are taking off. Your black 36 piece block looks very nice, too. I always shy away from making an all black block for the RSC, so you’ve made me rethink this. Maybe I’ll make four black/white pineapple blocks next month. I do have plenty of scraps. I have been busy sewing a binding down by hand and finishing a few Christmas things. Need to take some time to take photos but the weather has been mostly gloomy here. It even snowed Sat. night – not much but enough to remind us that “it” (winter) is coming.

I think your black block is perfect for the last one you need! I always forget that there are pretty prints in black – I just don’t have very many. Do the blackberries lose their leaves this time of year? I’ve never grown any, so don’t know their habits. Your afghan project is coming right along – great colors!

The Drunkard’s Path is coming along quickly! I’m loving the afghan.

Your last RSC block looks great! Your crocheting inspired me to look through my yarn and choose a pattern. I’m doing a cocoon sweater. Wish me luck!

    Dear Karen,
Busy in the garden, in the spring you will have raspberry plants shooting up new shoots and growth. In the summer you will get the berries to pick. A very sturdy trellis with the posts you put in. Doing the leaves in stages makes it easier to do, our tree which normally takes time to drop the leaves, did it in three sessions. Used all the leaves as mulch and in the veggie boxes. Great way to enrich the soil. Your inside projects that surrounds you looks amazing.

I love the new name for your quilt. Looking at your design wall, first thought came to my mind was a Paint Palette because of the various colour blocks, but I like yours a lot better. Your blanket and quilting are progressing so nicely. I always let the leaves pile up a bit before raking, mostly because I like jumping in them 🙂
