A busy day with a variety of things going on. I managed to get one block made for the Butterflies in Flight – well it be done for the end of the year? I don’t know 9 more blocks to make then sew the rows together.
A little more on crochet and beginning to weave the ends in, starting on the bottom for that.
Quilting on the Drunkard’s Path from Monday night
Two pieces of backing fabric arrived for the next quilts to go on the frame – the polka dot will be for the RSC21 Love Letters applique quilt and the musical notes for the RSC 21 Stars I intend to do both of those next year.
All the leaves that had fallen as of yesterday got mulched with the lawn mower, more to rake out of the flower beds – will try to get some of that done this week while it is so nice – it was 72 and sunny today – and as I write this last night at 8:30 I had the sewing room window open and the bedroom window!! well be close to this all week for temperatures. Some of this mulch will get raked up still for the garden – I need to get the wheelbarrow out there today for a while and get some of it done.
The dahlia’s or are they mums – I think I said that wrong and have them confused now — had all died off about 6 weeks ago and cut the dead blooms off and here are more flowering now and it is December 1st!!
And it looks like I will have a December rose – actually about 5 or 6 buds – well they open before the weather gets cold again – who knows but if they are close to it I will cut and put in a bud vase.
Lots of sales still going on here are a few of the sales that I know of.

I really don’t like to weave loose threads in – that’s the downside of knitting or crocheting. I try to weave in as I knit but it sometimes can’t be avoided. Can’t get over how warm it is by you – we have snow on the ground, of course, which will probably stay until the spring!
Your warm weather has made its way here. Yesterday the workmen started the day in insulated suits and ended the day in shirtsleeves. You have a lovely selection of neutral/low-volume prints in your butterfly quilt.
Sounds like a good day when you can do a little of everything you like to do! Pretty fall views still at your house, and with flowers still blooming, too. We’re having that kind of weather, too – it’s supposed to be 70 today! Love those backings for your future finishes.
We are having a warm streak of weather here as well, with a high today in the 50s. That’s balmy for us at this time of year. So fun to see those flowers popping up in your December garden!
I’m thinking it would be awesome to do a quilt with all butterfly blocks. I like both of those backing fabrics. Very pretty! Do you have to lift your dahlias?
I have been trying to find the pattern for your Butterflies in Flight.
I have looked under Block Base, Pinterest and Esty.
Does it have another name?
Love the colors in your ghan, but oh how I hate to weave in ends and you’re going to have a lot of them with all your color changes. The quilts are very pretty. Enjoy your nice weather. I’m cold even in the house here. It’s sooooo ugly out.
We should get close to 60 tomorrow. You are so much warmer than us. I have one chance to get everything else done before it starts getting cold again.
Ooh, your Butterflies and your crochet are looking fabulous, Karen! We’re expecting mild temperatures here tomorrow, too, and a few vaccinated quilting friends are getting together in a screen porch for some social sewing.
You know, I don’t mind weaving in ends. It’s weird. I do it as I go and use it as a break to rest my hands.
I think you will finish the Butterflies in Flight by the end of the year, at least the blocks. Weaving the ends is not my favourite, but it provides a break for my hands from knitting. I have so much yard work to do, better start with the leaves this weekend. Your place looks wonderful.
