Nothing Done In the Sewing Room

Yesterday was a wash out as far as the sewing room went.  We ended up being away from home for a good part of the day spending more time in Little Rock then I had thought we would  be.   After a short visit to the doctor for a minor appointment we went to Hobby Lobby and TJ Maxx – then had lunch at a nearly empty Applebee’s and then on to Sam’s where I got too much like usual.  But everything will eventually be used so that is ok right.

After we got home I spent more time organizing the pantry figuring out where I wanted all I bought – by time I really sat down to do any sewing it was evening so I sat at the quilting frame instead of the sewing machine – I figure today is good enough for that and I should be able to finish up the flannel blocks and press everything that needs pressing and then start on layout possibly.  I might wait for layout as I would like to use the design wall for the February RSC quilts – and that time is coming quickly now isn’t it.

So all I have to share this morning is my progress on Twinkle, Twinkle Big Star from Tuesday night.

I already have almost 40 hours of quilting on this quilt and I think the half way spot is the top of the quilting frame right now – so I am about a quarter of the way done maybe slightly more – this might be a 4 month job this time going just a little slower and taking more breaks.  I am working on my second row of stars having finished one border and one full row of stars – there are 5 rows of stars.

    Dear Karen,
Some days time just fly away, my hubby always says I come home with too much. Very true, now when we go shopping some stuff is out of stock for two months or more. If it is something we use regularly it will be bought in bulk.Love your fussy cut centre for the red block, it is always so interesting to discover these treasures on a quilt.

Some days are just like that, and it can be good to get everything out of the way in one day. Did you find anything fun at Hobby Lobby? I used to go there pretty frequently, but they moved from near our house to quite a ways farther out from here in the newer shopping area, so I end up at Joann’s more often. Fun to see close-ups of those pretty star blocks you’re quilting!

It’s so nice not to have a schedule or deadline you have to meet isn’t it. That way we can take our time and do whatever we want/need to do. Yes how did February get on our doorstep so fast!!!

Karen… glad you got all your city stops made and got home safe and sound with your hubby! I can’t remember the last time we were IN a restaurant for a meal… since Covid came we do curbside and bring it home which isn’t as much fun…. Celebrating 1/4 plus done on your quilting and getting your new pantry organized with the food you bought! Isn’t it nice to have space to organize?!
Have a fun day today being home…
    Kathi

My mom and I got groceries yesterday too, but we are using curbside pick-up again since omicron is surging here.

Your Twinkle Stars quilting is coming along beautifully. I used to shop at Hobby Lobby with my granddaughters, since covid hit we haven’t been. I really miss shopping with my granddaughters, hopefully soon the world will heal.

Take your time on the quilt and just enjoy the process. It’s coming along beautifully! I still think that you quilt faster by hand than I do on the machine. I’m such a horrible procrastinator when it comes to the longarm, except for veterans quilts. They are my favorites.
