Work was started on the Feathered Star aqua color but I can tell you it is moving slow! It has been rip, rip, rip – you know how it goes with these little pieces you get off just a tiny bit and it is too much. I lay out one section at a time or it is too many pieces on the table. I started with this much
Then added these
I put the ruler on the pieces to keep them from flying anywhere – well take a better photo today – one third done – will I get done with it today or Tuesday?
This is all the bits to keep track of – I didn’t count the pieces!!
This is the red feathered star from January. These blocks will probably have sashing in between or something to tie it all together good. I saw one pattern in an old quilt book that had an applique border but I won’t know until the end of the year if I want to do that – maybe it would be to finish the following year with more RSC colors? we will see. A little work on the hexies yesterday
Back to spring like temps but we have a little ice hiding in places in the shade still – this will be 10 days now since the sleet – back in the 60’s today after two chilly days and chilly nights. This part of the workshop is in all shade at this time of year and that ice is slow to melt!! Bet it is gone today!!

Taking it slow with those complicated blocks will be worth it – I would have to, too. They are really amazing when completed! We still have places where snow has turned to ice and won’t melt for awhile yet. So much depends on if the sun hits the area or not. More snow predicted for Weds here.
Those stars are amazing, it would be tedious cutting all those pieces out by hand.
The hexagons make me think of chickens, are they supposed to?
Dear Karen,
Only made one feathered star block once, for Vintage Moments. It definitely is not an easy block, so keeps track of everything is a business. Cutting with the Accuquilt makes this so much easier. Up north we are back in the big deep freeze, looking forward to spring and warmer temperatures. Happy Valentine’s Day!
Your feathered stars are so pretty! That is a block that has been on my bucket list for ages, but I haven’t tried it yet.
Feathered Stars are so pretty, and I do want to try them one day, but they are just a trifle intimidating.
