A Lot of Piecing

Yesterday I was determined to get the flannel blocks for Yuletide Gathering done (there is no pattern for this by this name – this is my name for the quilt) The quilt block does go by the name “Signature Block”  I had an inquiring today – my reader named Helen  – who inquired on the name of this block your email address didn’t work so I could not respond to you.  This is what the quilt layout will be.  I will not start to put this together until after I get caught up on my RSC quilts this month – then I will put the quilt on the design wall to get color arrangement done.   (I want to make sure readers know that the names of my quilts are not usually the name they come with – a lot of times I give them my own names – changing it some what makes it more “mine” if you know what I mean although here and there in a post or on the sidebar I will say what the original name of a quilt is.  Sometimes a quilt will not be named until it is on the quilting frame.  Yuletide Gatherings is the name of the fabric for for this quilt and I thought it suited it.  I have been getting inquiries over the years to why people can’t find a pattern by a certain name and that is why – the names of quilts on my blog are usually my names for them – but not always.)

The stack of blocks all pressed and squared up – I think there will be 7 x 7 rows and then a border of something but I am not sure what at this point.

I love seeing the different quilts you come up with, as well as the fabrics you use. I always learn something new. The block, or the layout, is sometimes called the stretched star or wonky star. If you focus on one block and the surrounding triangles, you’ll see the star. I see it when looking at the solid red block in the photo above. This quilt will be so warm and soft!

I always think the names you come up with for your quilts are creative and perfect for the quilt! Yuletide Gatherings is going to feel like a wintry quilt, and will be so warm and cozy for that time of year with its deep colors and in flannel, too. Didn’t you pick that block because you had the die for it for your Accuquilt? I like the star design that develops, too! Looks like you’re making good progress on it.

Yuletide Gatherings is already looking cozy. I love this layout. I tend to rename quilts too.

I love the flannel blocks and the name is perfect. Your Twinkle Twinkle quilting is beautiful, really compliments the pattern.

I name my quilts too. Your quilting is exquisite. Let’s hope March is a spring month weather wise.

Your flannel blocks look so nice and cozy, this is going to be a gorgeous winter quilt.

Both are lovely, though I’m particular a fan of the plaids and flannel. Sounds warm. I name my afghans so you’re naming your quilts seems quit normal to me.

Yuletide is going to be a very snuggly quilt. I tend to stick with the pattern name and then change it when I make the label. The only problem with that is I often forget what I called a give quilt later.
