Yesterday I really wanted to get more hexagons cut for Noriko’s Star which meant I needed to get the table cleared off – it was covered with Pickle Dish pieces. So first I tackled that. This time I decided to spray starch the larger pieces and see if that would help my piecing a little – it did help – it was far from perfect but it helped.
At this time I am still not sure if I will tackle the Feathered Star again – I will cut hexies tomorrow and think about it. I might give it one more shot to see if it goes any smoother – then it will be back to the flannel quilt. I need to pin blocks to the wall and decide on lay out for that quilt.
I went through boxes of fabric pulling a variety of colors out and got a little cut yesterday so I could work on thread basting last evening but I will cut a little of a lot of colors today. The next sections will consist of a variety of colors.
I will have a variety of colors cut and then I will start putting together the next section – it will go all the way around the center and will consist of 12 large “hexie flowers”. I decided last night instead of thread basted a lot of them what I will do instead is do like I did for the previous sections I will lay the papers out on my felt board and design the color layout as I go, working on one section at a time. The project seems to grow pretty well that way.

Looking forward to watching the next section of hexies come together. The Pickle Blocks look good. Hopefully they are square enough when it comes time for assembly.
Searching was a good idea, and glad it helped! I never think to do that, and probably should more often. Do you use a certain brand or just what you find at Walmart? The pickle dish blocks look great! Looking forward to seeing what happens next on your hexie project.

I love each time you add your yellow to the red and aqua blocks you have done. Those three colors look grand together, especially in all the varied and difficult blocks you are making. Woot woot for you! And your hexie project looks amazing. What a great design.
