What an exhausting past week this has been. Talk about tired. We got home late Sunday afternoon and we did get unpacked off and on throughout the evening and have all the dirty laundry ready to go through today. I just prefer to get the suitcases unpacked to at least get slightly back to normal if you know what I mean. I well admit that I am dragging and imagine it will take several days to get back to normal – oh no – make that later in the week to get back to normal! Tuesday I need to go to Little Rock for a scheduled check up with my rheumatologist and Wednesday we go to Jessica’s to see our grandson and his wife before they leave for Japan for his next tour of duty for 3 years. So I guess that will be Thursday to get back to normal. Needless to say I might miss a couple days of posting here and there this week!
Last week when we knew we would need to heard east I did get a tote bag packed of hexies and yarn, I hate to sit in the car with nothing to do for hours on end or a hospital room and at that point we didn’t know how long that would be. I sewed hexies in the motels because I quickly realized I could no longer handle sewing hexies in the car without loosing needles!! I was glad I brought yarn and a crochet hook and started to crochet a winter scarf – I made great progress on it – finished one skein and started another
On the hexie front I finished the hexie that I had been working on before we left – I think this green one is number 7 out of 12 – I will need to check that at some point this week.
And I got started on a red one (I had 4 complete sets cut out in advance but of course never had time to work on them)
One day when walking around the hospital to stretch I saw this art work at the end of the hallway – it would make a great quilted wall hanging wouldn’t it. It was the first thing I thought of when I saw it. (after wearing a face mask for two days in the hospital all day long I really appreciate all of those that do this all the time they are working!)
The navy shipyard view from my sister in law’s window – she was in a fairly big room and her daughters were able to stay in the room with her at night while we went back to the hotel. We had two days with her before she passed away and we were glad we went to help our nieces though this emotional experience – my sister in law was so out of it with drugs most of the time for pain and part of the time unconscious – we were able to talk to her now and then and she knew we were there. One of the girls husband was there off and on and two grandchildren. It is always good to see family and get caught up – but the reason you are there is not good – but I must say it was so good see them. My sister in law just wanted cremation and no service so that is what happened and the girls will scattered the ashes of she and her husband who had only died a year before her both only in their late 60’s when they are ready.
My sister in laws 12 year old little dog Ziggy will stay with one of her girls and is adjusting nicely
And this is an example of gas prices!! We have never come anywhere near paying this much for a tank of gas in the Honda! I wonder what the prices will be as the summer comes on – luckily in Arkansas in my area is is still $4.09 a gallon but in the east and parts of Tennessee it was up to $4.59 in places.
Ok – I’m caught up – now lets see if I can get in just a little quilting to relax before going to bed early – (written Sunday night and scheduled) – what an exhausting week this had been!! Thank you all for the nice emails received during the week – I answered some and probably missed others but I read them all and meant to answer if I didn’t. Too many blog postings on my Feedly reader (over a hundred!) to get caught up so I am deleting them and will start fresh this week to get caught up on all of you!

My sympathy to you and your family. I’m glad you were able to say goodbye and be there to support your nieces. Take care
So good that you got there in time to say goodbye and to lend support to your nieces. Sounds like you have a busy week ahead, but do try to take it easy. You’ve been through an emotional time. Hope you have a nice visit with Jessica and family!
Sorry for your loss. I’m glad you were able to get there and support the family. Have a safe trip to Jessica’s.
Welcome back. Sorry for your loss,I think you did the best for her and your nieces. This is life as it is.
Here gas price is higher R$7,53 (+/- US$1.54) per LITRE, so per gallon the price will be US$5.85, too expensive for the financial situation of the Brazilian population.
It’s good to read an update from you, and glad you’re home for a little while. We were exhausted for a couple days after getting home from our trip, too, and ours was for fun! I’m so sorry about your sister-in-law’s passing, especially for her kids. Sounds like they lost both their parents way too young. That’s such pretty yarn you’re working with – probably a soothing activity for the time spent waiting. Have a good day getting caught up, and good week, too!
I’m sure you are exhausted, what an emotional trip for you. I’m glad you were able to be there with your sister-in-law and her family. What a tough time for her daughters. Glad you are back home safely.
It is always nice to see family, even if the reason is terrible. I find the waiting so exhausting. You were smart to take hand work. The piece of art in the hospital would make an awesome quilt! Awww… Ziggy is so cute. I’m glad he’s adapting to his new home. You have such a busy week ahead, but hopefully being in your own bed will help you get caught up on rest.
Not surprised that you’re exhausted. Besides the traveling, all the emotions you were handing is enough to wear anyone out. I’m glad you were able to see your sister in law to say good bye amd I’m sure that your nieces were happy to have the support through such a hard time.
The piece of art is really pretty and would make a very pretty quilt.
I’m glad you made it home from your trip safe n sound… unloaded and then doing all your laundry today! Good luck with you dr appt! I know Thursday will be wonderful seeing your grandson and his wife and see her barely pregnant too before they leave for their big solo adventure in Okinawa!
Enjoy your quilting…sewing… stitching time between loads of laundry and just being home!!
We are getting the 1st resin we’ve had in 3 weeks! So happy to have it too!
Dear Karen,
So sorry for your loss. Knowing how hard it is to loose someone so close, it is always hard. Glad you got to say goodbye in person. Thinking of you and your family. Hugs, Maggie
My deepest condolences to you and your family. Such an emotional time. Good that you were able to there for your nieces. I am really glad to hear that Ziggy will continue to be part of the family and is adjusting well. All of your projects are looking lovely. I also like to knit in the car.

I’m so sorry about your SIL but glad you got to see family in the process. I’m working backwards through your posts! The yarn you’re using on that scarf is really pretty.
I’m so sorry to hear about your SIL. It’s good that you were able to go and visit. Hopefully, you’ve fully recovered from the trip.
