As you can see I am having blog issues – all of blog disappeared last night when I started to do updates after I had written my post for this morning and scheduled it. Mike was able to get back the main part but right now the whole side bar is still missing – he will be working on it off and on all day. I keep telling myself – patience!!
Just a short post tonight – tired from the long past 10 days or so we have had but hopefully from here on out it is back to normal. I did get the pieces cut for the Arkansas Traveler blocks – using that electric cutter from Accuquilt sure makes that job fast! First block is cut and ready to sew today – someone commented that these are not my normal colors – this is one of the tops for the RSC group so the color choices were sage green and forest green – going with what I have from the bins – no new purchases.
Quilting on Love Letters from Tuesday night
A little from the garden – here is the rhubarb that I bought — it is a variety made for the warmer temperatures in zone 7 & 8 (maybe 9 not sure) considering this was planted in the very early spring it is doing great – I wonder how it will make it through the summer – I have never had a rhubarb plant look this good and healthy! they always die before I can start to harvest!! I wonder if it would hurt to take just a couple stalks – they always say not to in the first year. I wonder if I will need to make a shade covering for it when the weather gets hot for the afternoons – or just keep it well watered?
I’ve had my eye on these patterns for awhile – the Jen Kingwell I bought late last year and the Wendy Williams arrived right before we left to go to Virginia – one day they well get made!

Love both the patterns, I made the Midnight and the Wendy Williams Christmas Tree is on my wishlist!
I’ve had my eye on Midnight at the Oasis, too. Guess it’s on my “someday” list. I like her Green Beans and Sweet Tea (or whatever!), too.
But I have quite a few quilts to finish before I start anything else. The friend who does my longarming has broken her wrist so I am taking my time getting things done. Summer is my time to finish some things.
Your rhubarb looks great! Wonder why they say not to cut it the first year. I will not even consider another Kingwell pattern until I finish Long Time Gone (and I’ve been gone from it for a long time!).
I’m sorry you’re having blog issues, but glad you got enough of it back for a post today. Hope you had a good visit with Jessica and family, and that your grandson and wife are doing well. Sewing with sage and forest green hasn’t been my favorite this month, but in the end all the colors will kind of mix together. I love the Christmas Tree pattern – that looks like fun! I have the Jen Kingwell pattern, too, but haven’t made it. The one of hers that I really want to make is My Small World. That one has fascinated me for a long time!
Ugh on the blog issues, I had some issues just last week. I’ve never grown rhubarb, did you end up picking some in spite of the warning not to? I think Granny made a rhubarb pie or cobbler when I was growing up, I’m sure I loved it because it was in her crust, which was my main goal – lol! I am pretty sure I purchased Midnight at the Oasis at some point – now I’ll have to go look for it. Those sure are pretty fabrics for Arkansas Traveler.
I’ve made O Christmas tree with my hand sewing group. If you are going to make the sawtooth border, double check the dimensions of the templates before you cut and sew. Ask me how I know to to that. The pattern I used was from one of the modern quilt magazines and wasn’t correct. One place it said seam allowances were included and the other said they weren’t. We all know what a difference that can make. Got to do whatever for a border and get it quilted.
Oh no on the blog issues. You picked some nice greens for that AT block. I remember my Mom always had a rhubarb bush in the back yard. Hope your’s survives the summer. Maybe take the 2 big ones on the side to ‘test’? Have a good day and hope the storms are not hitting you.
Sorry to hear you are having blog issues, but glad to hear that Mike was able to fix the main part of the blog already. Your fabrics in this post echo the colours of your garden. Both the quilting and the rhubarb look great!

Blog issues, what a pain! Pleased you have Mike as your IT expert on hand, dont know how I would get on when things go wrong here, without Robin’s expertise on computers.
I’m glad your hubby is computer savvy & could get you back up and running on your blog! I love the patterns in your stash you are eyeing as future makes!
I love how love letters is moving along and that Arkansas traveler block looks great laid out on your table!
Thanks for persevering on today’s post !

I know this post is from a few days ago, but I’m just getting caught up. The reason for not pulling any rhubarb the first year is so the leaves can feed the roots to make them stronger. Plus you are supposed to pull the stalks out of the plant and doing that the first year could disturb the roots, making them take longer to settle in. Also don’t be surprised to see the leaves die back, especially in the heat. it looks like a healthy plant, so it should be fine next spring.
Belated condolences on your SIL’s death. And congratulations on the new great gran on the way.
