You know I had put the box away with all the extra fabric that had not been cut into yet for The Rose Garden that I didn’t remember what I had left! I have enough here to make a queen size quilt I do believe and a table runner. As you know I decided not to continue making the blocks that are in the center of the quilt but that is because I had been having difficulty with the poorly written instructions and the fact that I followed directions and it had you cutting out a ton of pieces in the beginning. This is what I did yesterday – this part now measures 43 x 55 – I am going to continue – I’m getting back into it now. Next up will be a cream border and then more patchwork of some kind.
This is what was packed away in the box – I haven’t measured pieces and for sure didn’t remember I had all those partial fq’s left – I thought I just had a small amount of the red/dark pink/cream – I think work will continue on this one every month after I am done catching up on the monthly RSC colors – July will be purple – I need to look and see what I have.
A couple weeks ago I mentioned that I picked up some fat quarters from wal-mart to see how they stood up to washing/drying – would they fade, would they shrink – whatever – the price was very cheap and I wanted to know – I’m sorry I didn’t take a better original photo of the pieces and had them stacked – I should have fanned them out.
This is after they were washed and dried 5 times – they originally were 18×22 now they are 17×22 – I don’t feel that they faded much at all if any – this is usable fabric and these feel good. Don’t know about the yardage on their shelves but the fq’s are good.
Noriko’s Star – got done with another and got it attached – more thread basting on gray this week. Linking to Quilting is More Fun than Housework — Kathy’s Quilts – Slow Sunday Stitching —
Working with the larger pieces attaching isn’t too bad right now – every thing folds and gathers up in the lap just fine.
Taking papers out as I go – just make sure you leave them in around the edges when you do EPP.
Love Letters rolled down – will now be working on the sashing in between the rows and then start the final row of applique blocks (30” big on these so they don’t go fast) 94 hours of work in on the quilting so far
Yesterday at 7 PM – thank heavens it will cool off Monday-Wednesday – we need a break
thanks to everyone who goes though my site for using the affiliate links – Accuquilt has 25% off right now and they do have free shipping right now on over a hundred dollars. Prices go up on July 1st – I hope it won’t be too much of an increase but they sure have been sending out notices on when the price changes.

Rose garden is looking lovely, especially with that border (glad you managed to skim a bit off the top and bottom). Those Walmart fabrics look really nice, I really like the grey and green together. I’m looking forward to seeing Love letters complete. And as for that heat phew! Much, much to hot!
The border on Rose Garden frames it nicely. Thank goodness for air conditioning when it is so hot! Quilting continues to look great. I’m sure your EPP project will be quite heavy when it’s done with all those seams. It’s fun to watch it grow each week.
What is the fabric line you are using for Rose Garden? I love it! Thanks for showing your EPP on the back, it is tempting to try it when I see how neat it looks. Do you kind of “pinch” the papers out?
I have some things in my cart right now at AQ – a couple of multiples dies, a pack of 10-inch cutting mats, and the 4-inch quarter square triangle. I want to make some flying geese! The 25% off is nice.
Since you have so much of the Rose Garden fabric left, I think it’s a great idea to use those blocks as the center and keep adding borders. It is definitely pretty reds and creams – you can probably come up with lots of ways to use it! I missed that July’s color for the RSC is purple, but it’s nice to know it a little ahead. Hope you do get that cool down for a few days this week!
Good reminder on the EPP leaving the papers in at the edges. I’ve got mine packed so we will see how they go! Glad you will get a break in the heat – it has been crazy hot. Thank goodness we have AC to help us out. Enjoy your Sunday.
Rose Garden is so pretty! Each border makes it even more beautiful. While I know you have a lot to go on Love Letters, especially since the blocks are so large, it must feel good to see that last row. And now, I’m going off to order hexie papers before I forget. I’m getting it narrowed down what my first hexie project will be.
And I meant to say, thanks for the Walmart fabric report!
I love how rose garden quilt is being made your own now! I’m sure this is much more fun to do than a poorly written pattern too…
I love your Walmart fabric test! I plan to visit there with my mom to pick out some fabric for her butterfly quilt to be when we visit this coming weekend!
I love all your stitching progress and the final row of blocks on your hand quilting in the frame! Have a wonderful day… I’d like to get an indoor/outdoor thermometer do you like yours??? Did you find it local or on Amazon?

Beautiful projects. Love the Rose Garden. We have been in the 100’s to 104 this past week, and it doesn’t go down much at night either.
We have a nice cooler day here today, windows open and it feels great! Thanks for letting us know about the Walmart FQs as those are really pretty and I do look at them in the store and wonder. Rose garden is looking fab!
Your modified Rose Garden quilt is so pretty! I have one block made but was interrupted by travel and illness. I’ll be getting back to it soon. Looking forward to seeing your progress!
I always enjoy piecing together the EPP blocks. You really start to see the quilt come together. Thanks for linking up with oh Scrap!
I love taking the papers out once a section of EPP is put together. I’m kind of obsessive about checking to be sure I don’t take out an edge piece. Did that once – learning experience LOL.
Love Letters quilt is coming right along!
Rose Gardent is so pretty. I am glad you found that you have more fabric than you expected and that you are working on it again. I really like all of your other projects also. Those hexie combinations are very pretty. I enjoy following your quilting progress on Love Letters. Those Walmart fat quarters are pretty.
