A Drive and a Little Sewing

Even though it is hot every single day we have been getting out a little bit – normal for us after we get a new car, we just want to keep trying it out!  We drove to Petit Jean State Park which is about 40+miles from us – it had been ages since we have been there – it is a favorite for hiking but with covid and all for some reason or other we have not been there and we had found out a new visitor’s center had been built and the campgrounds had been cleaned up and new bathrooms put in – we just wanted to take a look.

The visitor center is like ten times the size of the old one and they put it right by the small lake which suits it perfectly! There are even walk ways to the campgrounds and playgrounds – this park has some of the best hiking trails in the state.

This side walk leads to the one of the campgrounds – I don’t know how far it is sidewalk, maybe the whole way as they had bike racks in the back of the visitor center – it was pretty quite though as far as camping goes – I’m sure with heat not many feel like hiking and being out in high temperatures – it was slightly breezy and 93 when we left and then headed to Conway for lunch and a little shopping.  Everything is pretty brown as you can see but I’m sure the roots of the trees go the lake!

We got home mid afternoon and I still had time to get the laundry done and a little sewing.  Only one more star for the border though and colors for the next one picked out.  Linking to Midweek Makers.

More scraps pressed – I just lay them over the box for now and will start cutting the next time I get the machine out which will be the beginning of the month for the RSC quilts August color.

Some roses still blooming with my pampering

And the berry plants (closest to the camera are blackberries) are still growing – haven’t produced much but they are growing and not dying so that is what counts.  (the buckets are my watering system to not waste water)

the park looks like a nice place for a walk and relax, so good that when you returned home you still had time for doing many things.

What a pretty lake! It was nice for a change of scenery, I’m sure. Are you getting used to the new car?

We too have changed our habits since covid so it’s nice to go somewhere not visited for a long time. And the lake looks lovely. Sounds like you are enjoying your new car!

Hope you’re liking the new car! That looks like a pretty place for a drive, too – I’m sorry it was too hot for a hike, though. Glad your roses are still blooming – that’s a pretty one. A new star for the Rose Garden border each day and you’ll have it done before you know it!

The park looks fantastic. How nice to ride in a brand new car and a great way to enjoy the AC too:) I got tired of putting away and taking out my Accuquilt cutter, so I cleared a space and bought a new cube unit to set it on and to store some of the most used dies, along with another place to store fabric!

    Dear Karen,
Love the way you enjoy the new car, go on outings and drive it. What a fun way to explore the car and all its quirks. We have not have much rain,it keeps on missing our town and the next one over. So much so, it made the main news the other night. We all have full blown flu in the heatwave. So bed and relaxing is what we are down too. Do you know what the next colour for RSC22 is?

That is a pretty campground! So fun that you are out and about enjoying your new car. I have some scraps I intend to cut at some point too. My last Accuquilt purchase was the 1.5 inch die. And I have a 2.5 inch as well. So glad your blackberries are surviving.

Pretty area for hiking with lake nearby too. I guess the new car is a hit! Love the friendship stars. Great deal on the cube. I picked up the individual diamond and hexagons dies the end of June.

What a beautiful site at the park. So many sections with the lake or the buildings! Love seeing you turn the last row for your applique quilt. That polka dot background really makes me want to try some as well. It makes it special as it is unexpected but perfect for it. I can tell your papers for your EPP are well loved.

Your stars, the finishings for Rose Garden, are lovely.
How nice to have an outing to such a beautiful park and setting.
That is such pretty fabric you are using for those perfect hexagons…the turquoise I mean.

That looks like a fun trip, in spite of the heat. Love those blue buckets in your garden! About how many/how big on the holes in the bottom? Your pampering is obviously working.
