A little star crazy here I guess but I think stars are one of my favorite patterns – there are so many kinds to make
First off here are the updates on Noriko’s Star – I decided I was going to need the work table for this part so I could get photos to document what I will do next – all these hexies are the next steps – these will be at each of the turquoise sections – the I decided on dark gray, then a mixture of blues, and then a blacker dark gray
In this photo where I marked the yellow streak well be either yellow or orange – it will lead to the next section which will give it more of a star shape.
Working one section at a time I will have all three rows laid out before I start to sew these rows together – so a little thread basting first – and I might find something longer to lay these out on as you can see I am running out of room in width – maybe one of my extra cutting mats wrapped in a layer of batting? I will look and see what I have. That sandpaper board I am using is 12 inches so I need something that will be at least 15 to 20 inches? I’m sure I have a cutting mat around here someplace that I could use linking to Midweek Makers — Wendy’s Quilts and More —
moving on I got another Hunter’s Star block made yesterday – I intended to do more but got started on the hexies instead and never got back to it.
On the wall – 2 more blocks to go but don’t know what I will get done with today – have some out of town stuff to do today.
I rolled Love Letters down and I will reach up to the last sashing and then roll it down one more time to get the sashing done.
When I order my fat quarter bundle last year that I made a queen size quilt with – Yuletide Gatherings I also received this panel. As you can see it can be cut up and made into quite a few things. I have some left over fabric from the quilt that I can use with this but I’m really not sure what I will make!
This is Yuletide Gatherings – it will go on the quilt frame soon. It is about 100 x 100 inches
Roma tomatoes growing from seed – I threw a small handful of seeds here just too see if they would grow and mature – really didn’t think they would for a long while but they stayed just shaded enough in the 100 degree temps we had that they have survived – but will they long enough to get tomatoes on and there are about 4 or 5 plants there that grew from about 20 seeds LOL I will wait and see how they do before I thin then out a little

I like the way your Hunter’s Star is developing. I bought the die for my Go Baby and made one block in a black and gray colorway. I thought I’d just put color in the star part, but I find that’s too hard to cut without a lot of waste. I ended up with a bunch of black diamonds. So I may just make mine like yours – different backgrounds with different colors. When you have enough, it looks really good!
Noriko’s Star is simply amazing!
It looks like Hunters Star is finished to me (on the wall). Those colors look so pretty together. I like the bright orange or yellow that’s coming next on Noriko. It will be a masterpiece, for sure! I thought I might sew this week, but so far I’m stuck rearranging furniture. We bought a new couch and so far, I don’t like any way we’ve arranged it. *sigh*
Interesting to see what’s happening next on Noriko’s Star! It must already be getting quite big. The newest Hunter’s Star is really pretty! Love that orange print. We have about a dozen good-sized green tomatoes on our plant that don’t seem to be getting any closer to ripening, and I think it’s because it’s too hot and sunny where we have it growing. Trying to figure out if we can do anything to help them ripen!
Hunter’s Star is just so pretty in these multiple colors – I wonder if it’s one of those on sale at Accuquilt. I think I need to take a look. I’ve never grown tomatoes from seed before. They look really happy in spite of the temperatures.
And I did treat myself to the Tangled Star die. Thanks for the heads up!
That’s a hard panel, I think I would be tempted to use it for a pieced backing on Yuletide quilt! Exciting to see the next steps begun on NS.
I was just thinking the same thing – use the panel as part of the backing
Hunters Star is looking great. I know you have the photo from Noriko’s star, but have you been playing with a hexie printout for coloring or just deciding as you go? Just curious on how you are ‘designing’ it. I do love how it is looking.
Quilting on Love Letters is coming to an end, then your lovely flannel quilt will be next in line. I’ve always loved the simplicity of this one. That was a lucky gamble with your tomatoe seeds, wondering what, if anything, would happen, and now you have some more plants!
I’m so curious about how you will do that yellow highlighted section. You are almost done with Love Letters? I love your Yuletide Gatherings, and I LOVE that panel! I am a sucker for Christmas panels. Well I have grown tomatoes from seed but I have never thrown it on the ground and am astounded at seeing your plants! I think that was a great idea.
Those Hunter’s stars are cool!
I just love your Hunter’s Star quilt. I might do that for next year’s RSC. All your projects are so inspiring, Karen!
