Wednesday was a traveling day and on Tuesday we did a lot of walking again and seeing sites. I have no sewing to share today. But here are some sites from around Cumberland Gap and the Airbnb we stayed at
The apartment was upstairs of a building that had a part time bakery – which as it was closed the whole time we were there we didn’t partake in any goodies! What timing huh. – Off season? In this photo from the hike we took above the town you can see a tan two story building in the center of town – we were in an apartment above it – one bedroom/bath/laundry/kitchen and living room – balcony off the living room on the front side.
Balcony
Mike stretching out his back after lugging stuff up two flights of stairs – I did help but of course he got the two big bags. We always pack too much
The living room – I didn’t get a photo of the bedroom it looked ok, until you laid on the mattress – lets just say they need a new mattress!! Overall place was ok but it lacked hangers, a toaster, and the area rugs really needed to be fixed so they wouldn’t rumple under the furniture – there was no way to pull them tight and the furniture was too heavy to lift and the furniture was on top of the edges of the rugs and you had to watch how you walked over them so you wouldn’t trip – I left them a note on that – it was a tripping hazard.
The view from the balcony
The back of the building – nothing special – we were in the middle on the top. Didn’t hear a peep out of anyone the while time we were there.
A hike on the edge of town that goes to a Daniel Boone trail/center – we cut through the parking lot of the back of our building through the small town to a trail that went to it and got in our last 3,000 steps of the day on Tuesday.
More pumpkins around town
That’s it for now – heading to a location in Western Virginia before Williamsburg to my sister. I will post more later but it might be several days before I get another one done – depends on what we see at next location and internet service.

Looks like it is a little too early for color in the trees. I love Williamsburg so I’m hoping you’ll post some photos of it. Happy travels.
That looks like a unique and scenic place to stay for a few days! Did you use the balcony at all? – might be fun to sit out there and watch the town activities. Too bad about the rugs, though – you’d think they’d have already figured that out. Enjoy your next spot!
Looks like fun! Isn’t it fun to see something different for a few days? We’ve done theAir B n B three times. Two were great. The last one was on a noisy street and was damp and musty. They had plugged in air fresheners everywhere, that I had to unplug. But we were only there one night, so we survived. ?

Thanks for the info on the Airbnb. We’ve been talking about going to hike there and would probably have to stay in an Airbnb. They’ve gotten a little sketchy so it’s good to see some real photos!
Cute little place, but yeah the one thing you need when traveling is a good mattress. Safe travels!
Enjoy your trip! Looks like you are enjoying yourselves.
Looks like a cute little apartment. Sounds like you are enjoying your trip.
Looks like a cozy place to stay with some nice views. Those are some intricately carved pumpkins!
Thanks for showing us around. Getting internet coverage can be difficult while travelling, I think it makes us appreciate what we have at home.
I love Williamsburg-we’re going in Feb/Mar for the Academy of Applique. We’ve been there in the summer as well-Busch Gardens, Water Country and only 1 hour to Virginia Beach!
Enjoy the drive and hopefully, you won’t have any rain from Ian.
