Noriko’s Star

Yesterday was one of those days where I just didn’t feel much like working on anything.  I made some fresh granola and finished a book.  I continue to listen to my audio book.  I got the hexies out for Noriko’s Star and worked a bit on the design.  I decided the best way for me to figure out this next section is just work row by row to figure it out – then when one section is done I will draw it out so I will have it for later.

In between the two star points is another different shape star point with two large triangles joining to the star points.  I will show this as I design it.  These three sections will be a little shorter than the star points as when you get to that area we are talking about another design change!  Linking to Patchwork and Quilting —

What I have drawn out might be a little too long and I will need to keep checking it on the floor as I got – the hexies of white, black and yellow are stitched in rows but the rows are not yet stitched together.  It will be something like this.  I think the flower on the bottom of the piece will be a different color scheme on each of the six pieces like the middle of the quilt top is.  I might change the blue and green to something different – if I keep them this color it will be  because they are used in the star point and I am thinking of keeping that color flowing – I like them – but I might need to find more aqua/turquoise as I do not have a lot of it left – I will need to go through my boxes and see what I have left and what green I could use to mix in with it.

I finished up the end of Butterflies in Flight row on Thursday night but didn’t take a photo  – I rolled it down and started on the next section – row 1 of 6 is now done.  And that was it for yesterday – I really am slowing down this month believe it or not – I have not kept up with the RSC quilts last month or this month – I decided to finish the Rainbow Stars ( crossed canoes/Lemoyne star) quilt first to have another quilt top in the basket waiting to be quilted and then I will move on to another.  So many are near the point of sewing in rows that I decided to just do one at a time right now while I work on hexies and quilting.

It’s so interesting to see how you are, step by step, designing Noriko’s Star. I look forward to seeing how it all goes. The colors are lovely!

You’ve got a good start on filling that space between the star points. Sometimes you have just take the time to finish one before you get back to the other in progress. You’ve made such good progress this year on in progress projects.

Oh my goodness, Noriko’s Star is continuing to evolve. This will be an amazing quilt!

Fun to see where you’re headed with Noriko’s Star! That is quite an involved project. Glad you’ve been able to move along with quilting the butterflies quilt, too. Sewing blocks into rows in not the most fun part of quilting, but always a good feeling when you see progress there!

I think that is a good idea to just work on one at a time on the RSC quilts. That way you can leave the one you are working on on the design wall until finished. I forgot, are you going to add one more row on the LeMoyne/Crossed Canoe quilt to make it square?

I can see how you might have to see how this new section fits as you go. What you have drawn out looks really pretty though. I totally understand working on just one RSC quilt at a time when you are at the putting together stage. It’s too complicated otherwise.

It sounds like you need a quilt top at the ready with how quickly you are going on this quilt. The star quilt is looking great.

I love to see Noriko’s Star growing, and these middle points are going to be a new design that will change totally the overlook. Fascinating, and exciting!
Thank you for sharing your progress with your WIP, and linking up 😉
