Noriko’s Star and Others

Yesterday I managed to get the second strawberry bed done and move some more dirt to one half of the third bed and cover it with cardboard so the heavy rain last night wouldn’t make a mess of it – I put some rocks down to hold it in place.  It will be really wet today so I might or might not get any work done.  I write my post the night before and schedule it for morning as of 7:15 last night the storm hadn’t started but you could see it on radar heading here – hopefully no warnings will be issued and it will just be heavy rain – I have the sewing machine unplugged and plan to do the same with the computer.  EDITED: in the AM I checked after I got up and we ended with just under 1 inch of rain – the worst of the storm went around us and we were lucky once again there were a lot of warnings for the state last night all over

I got another row done on Noriko’s Star

And picked out hexie’s for the next 3 rows – the rows are getting a lot shorter now so I can put more out – I think I will thread baste all three and then start to stitch them.

I took all of the blocks off of the wall and divided them first by the two patterns and then by color – I ended with 39 Crossed Canoe blocks and 40 Lemoyne Stars.  After I took this photo I noticed that I had the blue blocks in the wrong piles and changed it.  By far there are more blue blocks then any other in both block styles.  I am linking to Patchwork and Quilting -linking to SoScrappy for the RSC quilts today

And quilting on Yuletide Gatherings – about half way done with this final border.  I got quite a lot done on Thursday night.

That’s going to be a pretty quilt, no matter how you arrange the blocks.

I always have more blue fabrics and scraps than any other color. Even the new Scrappy Mountains quilt hasn’t made a dent in my supply. I keep thinking about making a blue quilt in 2023, maybe with gray as I have a lot of them, too.

The blocks look gorgeous all stacked and ready to arrange. Noriko’s Star has such pretty colors. You got a lot of hand quilting done, too. I hope the rain didn’t wash out your work. Smart to put cardboard over it!

Will it dry out enough that you can go back to your strawberry bed work, or will it take a few days? Fun to see the pretty hexies you’re working with close up. I love the look of different prints in the same color family being used together! Good luck with your layout decisions on your rainbow quilt, too.

Whew! Glad there was no damaging weather near you. I know what you mean about the number of blue blocks. I decided totally avoid it (and probably green as well) when I started working on the 12 additional blocks that I need. So close on Yuletide!

Glad the weather was not bad near you. I always have lots of blue in my scrap quilts with the RSC – 3 month of light, dark and teals will do that! So much progress on all the projects! Looking great.

I am always amazed by how many different projects you can manage at once! Strawberry patches, EPP, RSC and hand quilting all progressing nicely while I’m congratulating myself on getting dressed and showered before noon! (In fairness, I was up quilting past midnight last night). I’m glad the worst of the weather spared you. Yuletide is going to be a finish in time for Christmas decorating!! 🙂

Hopefully the bad weather didn’t hit you too hard. Well, perfect time for hand sewing and hand quilting, and your projects are coming along very nicely. I can’t wait to see how you will arrange the RSC blocks.
Thank you for sharing and linking up!

You are getting lots of gardening done. I should be out blowing leaves today but the wind is blowing too much so I get a little break. Your projects are coming along quickly!

All your projects are coming along nicely. Looking forward to seeing how will be your final arrrangement for the blocks. Glad to hear the bad weather didn’t hit you.
There is a problem with your link at RSC linky Party, today.

Karen que trabajos tan impresionantes, todos ellos se ven tan bonitos!!

I’m glad the weather was not as bad as expected. We have the wind from the south, but not much rain. What we do have is unseasonably warm weather. There is a geranium and a snapdragon that are still trying very hard to put out flowers. So strange for November here. Your projects are looking wonderful–and the variety of style and color among them must make working on them a never-ending source of satisfaction for you.

I wish your rain would come our way as we desperately need it. Can’t wait to see those Crossed Canoe and Lemoyne Star coming together in your quilt.

Your notion star is coming along beautifully
