Sunday was just too busy with baking and then cleaning the kitchen/dining room afterwards. Very little sewing got done – I do hope to get to the border squares today on Rainbow Crossings to get those blocks sewed into a row.
Here is a sampling of what we made as we were packing things up – a few more kinds to make – Mike wants his good old chocolate chip that he can have any time of the year – but I can find time to make them now too – also some Golden Thumbprints with raspberry jam for the centers – Melanie was making the chocolate covered graham cracker/peanut butter cookies (a favorite of her husbands) while I was doing some of the formed cookies. A bag of fudge which Mike cut for me as my hands didn’t want to cooperate for that having taken it out of the refrigerator after it was chilling for a couple hours.
While I am waiting for my light blue fabric to arrive I decided to go back to work on one of the odd shape sections for Noriko’s Star – just a little bit started might try to thread baste another row today – linking to Judy’s Small Quilts and Doll Quilts —
This quilting on Butterflies in Flight from Saturday night – I got off to quite a late start on quilting Sunday night so I don’t expect I got much done as I write this the night before I’m not sure what I did!
After baking all day I threw together a quick supper of “hash” that is my go to quick meal – I get out the food processor and slice up some potatoes, pepper and onion – some ground beef – fry and eat! smothered in catsup for Mike and a little bit for me plus some broccoli – do you have a quick go to meal when you are tired and don’t feel like doing much? We had went out the night before as that was a cookie dough making day and I was tired from that one too and really didn’t feel like going out again.

My go-to meal is a cheese omelet. Easy and comforting. My mom always made them for us if we were going on a trip, like back to college.
I have all my shopping done but am now busy making goodies for neighbors. One of mine always gives us pizzelles, Italian waffle cookies with anise flavor. I’m giving her a jar of blueberry jam. Other neighbors will receive a loaf of bread, either blueberry or whole wheat.
Your goodies look delicious. Enjoy! We do something similar to your hash with hamburger, but mix it with whatever we have. Last week was a little shredded cabbage, onions, canned crushed tomatoes and macaroni noodles. It seems no matter what we throw in there, it’s always so good.
Your cookie making day looks productive! And the hash looks yummy, too – I might have to try that. An easy meal for us is anything wrapped in a tortilla – usually some leftover meat with cheese – and then warmed or grilled to make the cheese melt. That is a pretty yellow block you were quilting the other night!
Those treats all look really yummy. Chocolate chip cookies are a Christmas favorite of all the men in my family. Don’t know why, but they love them. Happy stitching this week (when you have time).
Holidays are so busy. Just because we have holiday related stuff to do does not mean that regular everyday tasks go away. The holiday baking is in addition to daily meals/chores.
Looks like you accomplished a lot, even if it was not in the sewing/quilting department. Chicken Strips meal from Chic-Fil-A is Paul’s all time favorite. I made lots of Italian Wedding Soup yesterday. I will be eating that till Christmas 😀
Your goody boxes look yummy! Our go-to quick meals is fried potatoes with cut up polska kielbasa. Or corn bread with cut up spam. I could make each of those dishes once a week and my husband would not complain. Old fashioned comfort food! Our kids hated both meals. Just mentioning Spam gets me lots of “yuck” comments from people. But cut up in corn bread it’s delicious.
Everything looks delicious! My go to meal isn’t as fancy as yours. It’s usually grill cheese sandwiches. 😀
Mmm, cookies and fudge! My daughter often makes us Russian Fudge for Christmas, so yummy.
Baking is underway here, too. I don’t go ‘all out’ the way my mom did. She routinely made several dozen types of cookies. But she did cookie trays for each of the six schools she taught at, both of my dad’s work places, all of my sister and my teachers…… I remember those cookie trays fondly – there were always left overs, broken ones and ‘testing’ for the family to enjoy.
My ‘tired and don’t want to cook’ is usually “breakfast for supper” – pancakes or an omelet and toast.
Oh yum Karen!! I just do chocolate chip and spritz cookies. Used to make 4 kinds but all my eaters left home!! When all else fails it’s beefaroni: box of Mac and cheese with ground beef and tomato sauce. Tonight for me it’s cookie mixing, then tomorrow errands then cookie baking. And no more going out til Monday probably!!
Those cookies look yum! I don’t make them – I’d eat too many. My sister in law always has plenty and I have a few (or a lot) when I am there. Love that quick dinner. Mine is tortilla pizza (corn tortilla, refried beans and some cheese) bake at 375 for 7 minutes.
