Binding is made for Rainbow Crossings and the intention is to do the machine stitching to the front and then work on the hand stitching for the next week or so to get it done.
Ready to stitch linking to My Quilt Infatuation –
I did get the batting pieced that was left over from the quilt now on the frame – I ended with a piece 68 x 71
The area on the shelf that I store batting is now pretty much full!! I guess some smaller scrap quilts must be put together – the shelf is pretty deep – I think I have 2 king size batts up there and about 6 smaller ones put together from scraps. I have forgotten how many I put together last month.
More thread basting on the hexies for the next section – I was counting pieces yesterday and it is the black and the gray that I need to cut more of.
Quilted to the left corner on Court Jester Tuesday night
And continued to the opposite direction. I know how I want to do some of the quilting in the body of the quilt but haven’t decided if it will be how I want to do it though- it would be complicated and a lot of work trying to keep the design right. Because of that it might not be done the way I showed yesterday.
A little knitting was done in spare moments here and there
The Bee Balm has come back nicely and I can see it will be a big plant in this area of the flower bed – do any of you use Bee Balm for anything? Will I need to contain it in a large pot like all the various mints? Where it is located now is ok for this year.
Another tulip showed up – I have two more buds that I have found in another area.
I don’t remember the name of these flowers – they come back every year for years now.
and the cactus is looking good for it’s second bloom.

I think the small purple flowers are called creeping phlox. I used to have them In my green at our previous house.
Dear Karen,
Those small lilac flowers is creeping flax, according to my friend. it flowers in the spring time and then go green for the summer. The quilting room looks all streamlined. Glad you got another tulip flowering. Up north we had another day which started sunny, all the snow melted in the back garden. Then it started to snow again and everything was covered in snow and ice. It is now melting again. By dinner time the sun had come out again, all four seasons in one day. Have a great day.
My southern gardening book says April is the time to divide Bee Balm. Also, don’t plant close to roses as it tends to get powdery mildew.
Looks like you made lots of binding yesterday! I’m always so happy to get to that point with a quilt. The border quilting looks great on Court Jester, and gives you a little more time to figure out the rest of the design. Love seeing your blooming things! I don’t know anything about Bee Balm – does it bloom also?
I just spotted our tulips two days ago and they are 3″ high already! I wasn’t thinking any plants would be up yet, these are right next to the house and the snow is all melted off that bed. DH put a fence around them to protect from the animals. We have a patch of Bee Balm, so pretty when they bloom. They do spread a lot!
I bought some bee balm seeds this year. But I haven’t decided where I am putting it yet. Yours looks very healthy. Both your quilting projects and gardens are looking great.
You did a good job on that pieced batting! I really like your binding on Rainbow Crossings. We had those pretty purple flowers in south TX – love them!
I’ve grown bee balm but never used it for anything. I love to grow herbs, but then I rarely use them for anything. My favorite is chocolate mint – the intoxicating smell – oh my! The first year I planted it, it grew like weeds and took over the garden. When we cut it back, it smelled wonderful for days. It came back every year we lived in that house. So obviously it thrives in south Texas. But I can grow it here without it taking over, and it doesn’t come back – I guess because we have more freezes.
It’s so nice to see your outside blooms. The Bee Balm flowers are pretty but I can’t seem to keep it growing here.
It is 27 here this morning and supposed to be 60 and rain tomorrow. The Brunnera and Lungwort are my early flowers and they are both under leaves right now. Time to rake off the beds.
Look at you go! The binding is really cute. And you have another batting ready to go!! We bought a house one time, where the prior owners had planted beautiful creeping phlox around the back yard flower beds. It didn’t take long for my dogs to ruin it, but it was beautiful that first year!!
I love how the snail trail block adds to your top..it makes it move so cool. I just made Franken-batting in my blog post today too. 🙂
You have done really well getting those batting scraps under control, waste not, want not!
