Piecing–Getting Closer to Done

Yesterday I got 10 more diamonds done leaving 12 more to do – I will try to finish those today.  These are in pairs – two of each.

Added to the wall – this project was started last year with the Snails Trail block with SoScrappy’s Rainbow Scrap Challenge, just the bottom portion to go and then I will put a border of some sort around it – this is so that I don’t cut the points of the diamonds and squares off with squaring up and binding.   I might put a border on The Arkansas Traveler first as I want that one to go on the quilting frame next – for this quilt a border would help keep the edges from stretching (it is on point).  Also linking to Patchwork and Quilting ,

I decided the only way I will get done with Noriko’s Star and the knitting is to go back to listening to some books on audio – it is the only way I can seem to sit and do something for hours!  The book I am listening to is one that I have read before – Have you read (or watched) the “Outlander” series by Diana Gabaldon?  I am listening to the last book in the series “Go Tell the Bees That I am Gone” it is 49 hours of audio LOL – I started this series way back with the first massive book which I believe came out back in the early 1990’s.  Each book is huge and best if you read in order.  Well there be another one out? maybe in 5 years LOL – and then I will need to read some of them again to remember where it left off – I have all of them on my kindle.

Nice to see your next star point coming together.

You are making so much progress on everything!! I think listening to books would be a perfect way to sit still and get things done. Enjoy your Saturday!

If listening the book reading works for you, let’s sit and enjoy the story. The sweater knitting is perfect, and the new section of Noriko’s star looks great.
    Have a great weekend, Karen.

Those diamonds are pretty! We watch Outlander are are looking forward to the next season, sometime this spring I think? My husband, surprisingly, read the Outlander books, and he is the one who got us into the TV version. I have tried a few times to get into the books, but I always get bogged down in the political parts – way too much boring detail for my feeble brain.

I have listened to audiobooks in the car, but I can’t do it while sewing. I like to “meditate” while running the machine, and I watch TV (cooking shows mostly) while hand sewing. As for Outlander, the series was very popular at the library. I tried the first one (to see what the hoopla was about) and couldn’t get into it. One library customer told me she thought I couldn’t stand what she called “intimacy.” Maybe that was it, but maybe it was just the writing style in general. What was she implying about me?!

You’re almost there on the Snail’s Trail blocks – it’s looking just great! As much as I dislike cutting and sewing borders, I can see why you’d want to put them on this one. I read a couple of the Outlander books years ago – that sounds like a good one for an audio book to sew along with!

Bless those of you who can listen to audio and quilt at the same time. I can’t do it, my mind wanders to much I guess, LOL.

Lots of great progress! I love how those diamond blocks impact the snails trail blocks. Wow!

You should get a lot fo knitting and stitching done with that book!

Great new diamonds, and the blanks are really starting to be all completed! 12 more to do? Let’s say this one is finished ;))
49 hours of audio book looks like you have some time to sew together your pretty hexies, and to knit some rows 😉
Lovely hand quilting stitches and variegated thread on Rainbow Crossings.
Thank you for sharing and linking up!

    Dear Karen,
We have watched most of Outlander on Netflix, up to season five I think. Still many episodes to watch, have not read the books yet. The snow up north is keeping us busier than normal. Will hopefully get back in the sewing room early next week. Have a wonderful weekend.

Wait, Outlander was a novel series before it was a TV series?!! Is the narration good with the audiobooks? I need to be listening to something while I’m quilting, too. I started watching the Outlander series on TV and was enjoying it until I got to certain episodes where they went a bit too far for me in depicting really horrific, graphic violence and then having flashbacks to show that violent footage again and again and again… I had to stop watching. But maybe the books are better? Your Noriko Star, diamonds, and hand quilting are all coming along nicely and what a cool little dish you have for your ball of knitting yarn! Maybe one day I will learn to knit (or maybe one day I will learn to fly — hah!)

All of your projects are going along so well, Karen! I like the audiobook idea. I do a lot of handwork while I am watching…., uh listening to TV. And then the garden is calling.

The Snail’s Trail quilt is looking good as you get it more filled in. Almost done, that has to feel good.

You’re making great progress on all your projects! So fun to watch them take shape.
