More work was done on the hexagons but no work on the sewing machine this weekend – I just hadn’t felt like it – I hope to get back to that this week and make more progress on the Hunters Star quilt.
I brought the hexies outside (it wasn’t near as humid) and finished up this section of Noriko’s Star
Later in the late afternoon I laid it out on the floor to make sure to pin the start in the right section. If I do not do this I will be bound to stitch in the wrong direction and not notice immediately – I usually put two pins in one hexie to get me started and then none after that as once you get started you can easily hold it in place with your fingers as usual. Linking to Small Quilts and Doll Quilts
A long stretch to go here but if I work on it off and on today I can get it done.
Quilting on Court Jester from Saturday night
I picked strawberries and we had strawberry shortcake. Some of these could have been riper but I picked so we would have enough and because I noticed nibbles taken out of some so I wanted to get as many as I could before the birds ate more – I will work on getting the bird netting over them this week. They are floating on the water here so the bowl isn’t as full as it might look – maybe 2 cups of berries – more than I was getting last year.
I should run to Lowe’s today and search for some pots for the plants on the porch some really need to be moved to a larger pot – how is your week looking? busy?

It’s been lovely weather here but a bit rainy today. A good day to run to Walmart to see what I can find for the flower beds. Everything is leafing out and looking quite green, finally.
Glad you got some outdoor sewing time over the weekend! Noriko’s Star is moving along. Your strawberries are looking delicious! I’m hosting my book club this afternoon, but the rest of the week is pretty open so far. Hoping to get more sewing time in than the last week held!
Those strawberries do look good. It is always a dance as to when to pick them before the birds decide they are perfect too. Your hexies are looking good as well as the quilting on Court Jester. I’ve got things to catch up on in the sewing room but I keep wanting to work on the project that doesn’t need catching up on – does that make sense? 😀
The newest section of Noriko’s Star looks good! I want to be in the sewing room, but too many outside tasks keep drawing my attention. Problem is I’ve run out of quilting hand work to do too. Those strawberries look so yummy!
Your strawberries look beautiful; so rewarding to be able to grow them yourself. A day on the porch with hexies sounds like a good day. We had a busy church day yesterday, requiring extra cooking. I’m a little tired this morning, but it was a good day. It’ll be a slow Monday for me.
You’ve made a lot of progress on Noriko’s Star. It looks like it’s getting close to finished. Maybe I’m being too optimistic… How much more do you have to do?
2 cups seems like a pretty good amount of strawberries to pick all at once. You will be having some good desserts this summer. I think you said these are the everbearing so does that mean constant producing all summer?
Noriko’s Star is really growing! It’s going to be a masterpiece!
Noriko’s Star is coming along nicely. I hope the last fill-in sections are smaller and easier for you.
Strawberries are a major crop in my county–we even have a strawberry festival annually. It has gotten so big that they are holding it at the Fairgrounds this year.
Yum fresh strawberries, I’ll be right down, haha. Love seeing the new section being sewn to the base of NS. Other than a Dr. appt on Thursday to see what is going on with my hip, I feel like I am hobbling around like an old lady and it hurts!
We’re finally getting some sunny days, after a week of clouds and rain. Today is lunch, then a guild meeting. Thursday is an MRI and visiting an elderly friend in rehab. She fell, breaking 2 bones in her neck and her right elbow.
I’m working on a new bag for our beach umbrella made from a beautiful fabric a friend sent me. Mike is cutting and designing; I’m sewing.
