Hunter’s Star (RSC quilt from 2022) is now in the “to be quilted” box – I was able to get it outside after pressed and stay stitched for a photo – it was clouding up and looked like we might get another short storm but that never happened but I will go with the one photo I got anyhow – More will come when it is time to quilt it of course. I believe it is 98 x 98 inches. I am linking to Michelle’s & Marsha’s Traffic Jam Weekend Reboot (they have a little bit of everything not aimed only at crafts) Wendy’s Quilts and More — From Bolt to Beauty — So Scrappy
More hexies basted – down to the green and black colors now
Got the little pieces out to start looking at for the baby quilt. Most of these pieces were cut before I got the die that cuts 9 – 1.5 inch squares at a time which means they aren’t perfect because I cut them and the ruler tends to slip – which is why I got the accuquilt!
One block almost done as a sample so I can measure and decide what I am doing – they are to be 6.5 x 6.5 but of course they won’t be perfect so I’m doing it slightly a rectangle that will be trimmed to the above measurements. One strip isn’t sewn down but you can see I will be able to square up. It seems I did that with the large postage stamp quilt that I showed last week that is on the bed.
Court Jester from Wednesday night
First tomato almost ripe
An Easter lily planted about 3 years ago has flowered, I missed it last year as we were out of town at the time and the first year it didn’t flower.

Hunter’s Star looks so good on that pretty deck! I really like where you’re going with the baby quilt. I may have to try to copy that. I tend to throw away anything under 2 inches – are you horrified? 😉 So Accuquilt has a die for 1-1/2 inch pieces?
Have you ever made a quilt for the niece who is in the hospital?
Look at Hunters Star in the sunshine! It’s so pretty. I have one tomato— yes one, with about 8 plants! What in the world ?? I like the start of the baby quilt.
Hunter’s Star is so gorgeous! Looking at it makes me feel happy. I love that sweet little calico you’re using with your one inch squares. I bought that Accuquilt die as well. I’m glad to see your Easter Lily doing well. I bought a couple this year, and afterwards realized the tag said they were not hardy in our zone (we’re zone 7). I planted them up next to the house on the south side in hopes they might survive. We shall see!
And thanks so much for the shout out for Traffic Jam Weekend Reboot!
Karen, the Hunter’s Star quilt is absolutely gorgeous! I have that 1-1/2″ die and surprisingly use it often in various projects! I gave up on veggie plants several years ago. Between the rabbits, deer and other various critters, including cutworms, they rarely made it to survive! Have a great weekend!
Your Hunter’s Star is so pretty. I love the RSC look with all the color variations.
That hunter’s star quilt is gorgeous!
You certainly did well to get your Hunters Star assembled, stay stitched and pressed ready for a photo. And you’ve made a start on the baby quilt too!
We’ve been gone all day until dinnertime, so I’m just now getting to my blog reading! Hunter’s Star is beautiful – so glad you had a chance to get it pressed and show us the full view. Your block for the baby quilt is going to make a fun design, too. Tomatoes already – yum!
Congratulations on finishing the Hunter Star top. It has been fun to watch it come together. I had one top come back to me, for a fall wall hanging I made when working. I love this top and it is so gorgeous! Love the baby block sample, too. The cutter is such a great help!
I’m a firm believer in trimming blocks to size. Between ruler slips, seam “shifts” and different weaves on fabric piecing blocks to exact measurements is rare. Much better to do what you did and design a block that is forgiving.
Hunter Star is gorgeous, Karen!
Looking forward to seeing your progress with the baby quilt.
Your Easter Lily is beautiful.
The Hunter’s Star is so pretty but it must be fun to work on something small for a change.
the hunters star is gorgeous, lots of detailed piecing,I’ve yet to finish my 2022 RSC too, little houses what was I thinking? I’ve never attempted the hexagon, little squares can be teioisus but can turn out so cute!
