Another finish for the year – I believe this was the 3rd finish on the quilting frame from the beginning of the year. Court Jester was made with the 8 inch AccuQuilt BOB Snail’s Trail (I always get my dies when they are on sale and didn’t pay anywhere near the price it is now, I think I got it 3 years ago – always keep an eye out for the sales!) and a paper piecing pattern for Storm at Sea that I combined into this quilt. It is machine pieced and hand quilted – it finished at 78 x 80 inches – I used Hobbs Tuscany Cotton/Wool Blend batting and a variety of Aurifil #12 variegated threads. It took 125 hours to hand quilt. I originally started to make this quilt as part of the RSC group from Angela’s SoScrappy (I’ll put in the link to the Saturday link up when I get on the computer this morning) blog following along the colors in 2022 and then in 2023 I finished it up with a variety of my own colors. A close up of the quilting and the “jester” design – it reminded me of the Court Jester from the “Mardi Gras” type of costume
I wasn’t going to try to get photos in the full sun as it was about 95 degrees outside and just bending over in that heat in the sun makes me dizzy! I waited until the front was in the shade in the late afternoon before I took it outside.
It’s been so hot that I haven’t sat on this swing almost all summer and just now noticed all the darn weeds growing – I will need to spray those with some killer. I had to brush all the pine needles that have fallen off the swing cushions before I put the quilt on it!!

Your quilt turned out beautiful! The hand quilting is exquisite, such a gorgeous quilt.
beautiful and the name is perfect
I absolutely adore this quilt, Karen. The colors, the jester design, and especially the beautiful quilting.
Court Jester is a beautiful finish, Karen! I really like the way you see different shapes in the blocks depending on which area you focus your eyes on. The dense quilting adds a lot of texture to it, too. Congratulations on your finish!
Your quilt is just beautiful! It photographed so well, and shows the wonderful quilting! Congrats!!
That quilt is just gorgeous! It’s a design that really speaks to me.
Beautiful quilt, Karen! And, as always, the quilting designs you chose are perfect….thanks so much for letting us follow along!!
We are in the super hot, high humidity, weather in Virginia as well! Heat index in triple digits. They say we may get some relief in the next couple of days. I hope they are right!!
Looking forward to the next quilt to go on your frame!
Love the combination of blocks and the soft colors you use. Gentle seas feels more like it. 🙂
Court Jester turned out beautifully! Congrats on another finish. Stay cool, it’s going to be warm for a bit yet.
Congratulations on a fantastic finish! The colors are beautiful, and your hand quilting is amazing!
What fun to have this completed. It is gorgeous. Love the quilting designs and the colors are just fabulous. Quilting does bring the quilt to life!
Love getting to see the full view of the quilt. I can appreciate your quilting! A great finish.
Oh boy, that turned out so well! I just love the quilting you did on it. Perfect. I hope you have a wonderful day and stay cool. It is so darn hot outside.
Another wonderful quilt finished!
I have never used the cotton/wool blend batting and the results are great. Do you dry it in the dryer? I have never used any wool batting.
Court Jester is magnificent! It’s a great combination of those two blocks! Love the photo on the swing, weeds and all!
I don’t know which is more wowing, the quilt pattern or the hand quilting?they both are amazing!

Congratulations on this terrific finish! Great photos in spite of the weather!
Ta courtepointe est superbe. Tout y est le choix des tissus et des couleurs mais ce qui a retenu mon regard c’est ton quilting.
Absolutely stunning! All the yumming colors and perfect points!!!!!
Thanks!
Bravo for the 3rd finish of the year, and what a pretty one! I love this quilt, and the double border is beautiful too. Well done!
Thank you for sharing this pretty finish, and linking up.
I just love the Court Jester. You are so talented at putting together fabrics and I keep studying your hand quilting! I am making a quilt for my brother right now that I have been agonizing over how to quilt it for days!
I always look forward to reading your blog!
I just loooove your finish and how it washed up so fun! I love the horizontal lines and the vertical ones too! They play off one another very nice… I am piecing one for my honey… I may use something similar with his blocks! 🙂
Have a wonderful week and I bet your happy to have the continuing finishes and progress on your epp too!
It’s beautiful. I have the Snail Trail die. It is very convenient. LOVE all the scrappy goodness. The quilting is perfect for it. Congrats on your finish. Sometimes those weeds just have to wait.
It turned out beautiful! When it cools down, it will be lovely on the bed.
