We had a great family reunion it went on with people coming and going the whole five days we were in Northwest Arkansas. We were lucky the weather wasn’t too bad and my brother was able to have shading over the deck the whole time. It was hot some days but the last two days it was much better. We were at my brother Larry’s house most of the time and a couple afternoons we had some smaller groups to the AirBnb we were renting. My brother and wife from South Carolina and my sister from Virginia and Mike and I shared a 3 bedroom/3 bath house that we got for a good deal for 5 days/5nights. As expected I didn’t get good photos – too many people and never did everyone have a good expression on their faces! We would have anywhere from 16 to 45 in attendance at any given time. Three brothers couldn’t make it and numerous nieces and nephews. We had two birthdays to celebrate one day – one of my sister in laws and one of my nieces in law – one of my sister’s made 3 cheesecakes that day. Sadly our uncle who was to come from New Mexico had a unexpected heart procedure done the day before he was to leave and couldn’t make it – the only of his generation left and is 87 I think.
So not much in the quilting department to report today – but here is the last quilting on Arkansas Traveler that I did before we left – it was ready to turn down last night for the first night of quilting in about a week – (the fingertips have healed enough to get back to it)
This is what the quilting is looking like on this first border.
Ready to make the binding on the toddler quilt and get that finished.
A few more hexies made.
Three tents put up over the deck to keep it shaded at my brothers house – it worked. A lot were outside and the food was inside to keep it cool and in and out we all went with tables and chairs all over the deck.
Our bedroom at the Airbnb – only problem was the end of the rug kept curling and I would almost trip over it in the middle of the night so I had to pull it over and move it a bit. It was a big room! We had a nice shady deck off the living room to enjoy our morning coffee and visit a bit before we would head over to the gathering each day. I have run into the area rug problem at several places now – the ends curl creating a tripping hazard in the middle of the night trips to the bathroom in the dark!

Sounds like you had a great time. It is fun to get together with family and check in on how everyone’s doing.
Your Arkansas Traveler quilt is looking really good!
Sounds like you had a great time with your family. The room looks nice and love the solution for the shade on the deck.
That sounds like a great time, and lots of special people to connect with that you probably don’t see very often! The AirBnB sounds like it was perfect for all of you with everyone getting their own bedroom and bathroom, too. It’s always hard to get good photos in groups like that, but I enjoyed the ones you shared. Isn’t it great to go, but great to be home again, too?!
Looks like a wonderful time was had by all.
Welcome back. Sounds like you had a wonderful reunion. Wishing your uncle a speedy recovery.
Welcome back. Your hand quilting is just beautiful!
I’m happy to hear you had a good turnout for the reunion and that the weather cooperated. The first border on the quilt looks great.
What a wonderful trip! I wish my family was that large but I’m grateful for the one that I have. Your Airbnb looks lovely!
Sounds like you had a great time at the reunion. Enjoy your stitching time this week.
Sounds like a great reunion. You have a large family it seems. It’s awesome so many of you were able to attend. Hope your uncle is better after the procedure! Those area rugs can definitely be a challenge. As a home health nurse, I always asked my elderly patients to remove those for their safety. Most of them didn’t, but I did my job in warning them about their perils! Have a great day. Your Arkansas Traveler looks great. I admire your hand quilting!
Gosh that looks like fun! How fun you had a AirBnB. I laughed out loud at not getting photos because of facial expressions. I can never get a good pic when we are all together. I have to set it up for everyone to pose (loud groans every time!) in order to get a good shot. Glad the weather cooperated. Even though you had a good time, I bet it was good to get home. Glad your fingers are healed. Too bad about your Uncle. Hope he is doing OK.
I am so glad you had a good time at the reunion. I missed your daily posts.
The reunion looks like an amazing time! How fun. And being able to share the AirBnB with other family members is an economical way to travel. A lot of times an AirBnB is less expensive than a hotel.
The first border is absolutely beautiful!
