Yesterday I was going through fabric deciding what kind of fabric I wanted to use for the New York Beauty – I won’t be ready to start this project until I finish the Carpenter’s Wheel just because I want to get that quilt top done and in the to be quilted box for next year. I have my hand quilting and my EPP going on, plus the knitting – plenty to work on until I can get this one started but in the meantime I want to get the fabric ready.
I decided to use the fabric that came in a kit plus some other bundles that I have. I will still pull some light color batiks off the shelves to mix in also, but these need to be pre-washed and treated before they are used which means I then have a bit of pressing to do too doesn’t it! The fabric that is laying flat came in an old kit from Crafty’s that I bought way back when they were in business and seeing as I was an affiliate I got it on an even better deal as it was marked down a lot before they went out of business and I got a commission on my own sale. But I do not want to use the pattern that came with it – all these sharp paper piecing points are more than I want to deal with – so the pattern (with papers to make a quilt 70×80) is up for sale or trade – if you are interested contact me – first to contact me we will talk about it. This will be offered at a great discount as I got it that way as well. This is an older pattern by Judy Niemeyer I couldn’t find it listed anywhere for a price. United States only as I don’t want to pay for higher postage.
Fabric was picked out for the next two sections of Noriko’s Star – I thought I would just get all the hexies picked now and thread baste and get it ready for stitching. This is just the amount I need for one of them now.
Three rows of the blocks for Carpenters Wheel are put together but the long rows still need stitching. Just pinned to the wall for now.
Quilting on Arkansas Traveler from Monday night.
I need to finish this colorful area before rolling the quilt down and starting on the next area
Off to the orthopedic doctor today to get thumb injections for the arthritis I don’t know if any quilting of any kind will get done today we will see. Have a few errands to run when done at the doctor.

I’ve done the same thing with Crafty kits. I have the fabric for other projects. You have so many wonderful projects in the works. Best of luck with your doctor visit today.
Your fabric choices are beautiful. And I’m enjoying seeing Noriko’s Star grow! I hope your injections help today. It makes me hurt to think about a needle going into my thumbs.
I washed some red Kaffe Fasset ten inch squares yesterday and wow did they ever release color onto my color catchers! They also shrank to 10 x 9.5. For my quilt I needed four five inch squares out of each 10 inch block but now I can only get two. I guess I’m done with buying pre cuts like that.
Those are pretty bundles of Batiks for your NY Beauty project! When you say that you’re going to prewash and treat the fabric – what do you treat it with? I’m lazy and never prewash! I used to, but got tired of the raw edges fraying and getting everything all tangled up, plus all that pressing afterwards. Have a good day with your visit to the ortho – hope the injection doesn’t cause you any pain.
So sorry to hear you are experiencing pain in your thumb! Hopefully the injection will help alleviate it. Loving your fabric pull for NY Beauty! I don’t know if I’d be able to put it off it’s so pretty. Carpenter’s Wheel is getting so close to a finished top! Exciting to see. Love the quilting on Arkansas Traveler. So perfect and tiny. Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss.

Have a nice evening.
The New York Beauty is going to be a beauty judging by those yummy fabrics.
