Well as I said I was going to be in Little Rock yesterday getting the injections in the thumbs so not much got done at home –someone asked was it really painful – well I won’t lie — yes you do feel it they spray a numbing solution on the area of the injections but I kind of think it really doesn’t do much to numb it. Yes it hurts but it is a short hurt if that helps you any. To put the solution in each thumb with the syringe is about 30 seconds to a 1 minute? I don’t really time it. I am one of the weird types that actually watches the whole thing and don’t scream or cry – just go with it and it is over shortly. I chat the whole time with the APRN or the doctor whichever one is doing it that day. I know what to expect now so no big surprise for it.
It will hurt afterwards normally 30 minutes to an hour – today the left thumb hurt for several hours but by evening it was done and I was sitting at the computer typing up my blog post and then sitting at the quilting frame seeing if I could quilt the whole evening after I got done doing my peddling exercise. Which by the way works ok – it is a Cubii and I am at resistant level 6 it goes to 8. I peddle once or twice a day for 20 to 30 minutes both times. I had to build myself up to it – I feel it in my lower legs, the knees and the lower thighs, it is not bothering my feet and that was the whole point of switching from the treadmill to that. I had hoped maybe I could stitch at the same time but it didn’t work out, can’t concentrate on that so I read, listen to an audio or a show or just watch the birds coming to the feeder if I put it in the right position I can see out the window.
Quilting on Arkansas Traveler from Monday night – two or 3 more nights and it should be done. Linking to Wednesday Wait Loss #359 — Midweek Makers #414 —
The Hunter’s Star will be next on the frame – I will decide how to quilt it when I get it on the frame – if I remember right it is about 100 x 100 inches like most of them are – this was a RSC quilt – pieced in 2022 and finished June of 2023 – no big border means less quilting time LOL – instead of near 180 hours that Arkansas Traveler is taking this one will be back to the usual 80 hours or so
While we were out yesterday we dropped by the mall to walk around and look at Christmas decorations – the big tree was up – yes it is looking a bit like Xmas at the mall. I took the photo from the second level so I could get it all in – Santa was even waiting for children to arrive.
Well Melanie be over for baking later today – we will see – baking is getting done with or without her today.

Dear Karen,
The tree is huge, love that you got Santa in the picture too.Enjoy the baking today. Up north we had a skiff of snow on the ground yesterday and today we will be +4C with some sunshine. Have a great day.
Whew! It hurts me to think about the injection procedure! I hope your hands feel good today. It’s exciting to see your next quilt picked out for the frame. I’m glad you are enjoying your pedal gadget. Looking at the birds would be my choice while pedaling. Great shot of the mall tree and Santa. I hope you and Melanie bake some yummy treats today. Enjoy!
So glad you got your injections and are able to get back into the swing of things on the sewing front. We’ve avoided the mall in Tulsa, it’s just a mad house right now, you were brave to tackle the one in Little Rock. Enjoy your stitching time this week.
Glad you got through the injection visit and are liking the Cubii, too. Does it register as steps on your fitbit? Hunter’s Star is one of my favorites that you’ve worked on recently. I remember thinking I’d like to make that block, but I would need a method that doesn’t involve the Accuquilt cutter. That’s a beautiful and huge tree!
Your Hunters Star is lovely! So sorry your thumb makes it painful to quilt. Have a lovely Christmas! Thanks for sharing on my weekly show and tell, Wednesday Wait Loss. https://www.inquiringquilter.com/questions/2023/12/20/wednesday-wait-loss-359
That is a great photo of tree and Santa! How fun to go to a mall this time of year. I enjoy my Cubii too but only use it for 20 minutes a night…the length of a sitcom. I can’t stitch either while pedaling. So glad this round of thumb injections are behind you. Marvelous what medicine can do these days. Wonderful quilting as always, Karen.
Hunter Star could almost be quilted with no marking because the pieces are small.
I haven’t been to a mall in years. That tree is huge!
What a huge tree, and hello Santa! I bet the mall was busy and teaming with shoppers. It’s nice to see the next quilt selected for it’s turn on your quilting frame.
Beautiful tree and love that Santa was captured as well. I can’t wait to see how you decide to quilt the hunter star. Glad the injection is working so quickly to ease the pain. Interesting both you and Jocelyn have that pedal machine. Glad it is not hurting the feet.
I didn’t realize that borders added so much time to your quilting. The next one will be speedy by comparison! I hope baking went well and I’m so glad that the pedal machine is helping!
I was curious about your injections, sounds like you are a trooper. I can’t watch when anything is being done, but I rarely show pain. I try to chat and keep my mind off what is going on. 😉 Thanks for sharing that mall tree! I miss things like that – we haven’t been to a mall in years. I’m excited for your near finish on Arkansas Traveler!
I am glad the latest round of shots is done. Like you, I find I can tolerate the pain if I understand the procedure and know that it is going to be a help. I knew the fancy border added time to the quilting, but didn’t realize it was more than double. So cool that Cubii is working so well. In the back of my mind, I am thinking I might be able to use something like that….
And in that vein, I’m having my right shoulder looked at next week. It’s just behaving terribly if I use it too much. Including typing. Grrr…
