Happy Daze

It rained yesterday so a little bit got done at sewing machine – no thunder and lightening so it worked out good.

The blocks started like this

My background is a little busy I don’t know if I will use it again – maybe – it will depend on the colors used.  Linking to My Quilt Infatuation —

It is possible I will like it more after it is put to the black background – I don’t know if I will – but there are other colors coming up to use – but with this yellow block you can see why I said I need more yellow colors – I need more variety – some dark, no more light I have almost all light yellows in the very small yellow stash.  In the end if I feel like I need to make a new yellow block I will.  But I rarely do that.

Your yellow block turned out beautifully. It seems that my darker yellows are either more gold then yellow or more orangish than yellow. You did well with the contrast considering you were working from what you had.

While I see what you mean about the background being a little busy, I always think the blocks where someone made do with what they have always adds interest to a quilt. Perfection isn’t quite might thing. 😀

I love the yellows and the background! We only heard a little distant thunder yesterday, just a nice light rain. We spent part of the day on the phone with one of our credit cards. Someone had made a fraudulent purchase back in November, and we did not receive statements, so we had no idea that interest and late fees were adding up. Fortunately they responded to our request to remove all of it! Some days it seems like that kind of stuff is all I do. 😉

I think your yellow block is fun! In a rainbow quilt, it usually seems like everything fits when you put all the blocks together – light, dark, busy or not. But it’s definitely harder to get contrast with yellows! You must be getting close to finishing the quilting on your star quilt. Do you have one ready to go on the frame next?

    Dear Karen,

Some colour we have lots and others very little. The weather up north has been warm, so we found ourselves outside for walks and gardening. It is raining here so we are back in doors. The yellow block is looking great, because of the black background fabric. Once you add it to the rest of the blocks it will be really hard to find any fault with it, it will be just right with all the other blocks.

I like the block. We’ll just have to see how it plays with the others in the final layout.

I think your yellow block is going to look Ok in the mix. Maybe when you do an orange block it can be a lighter shade of orange and then you one light block won’t stand out as much. I think light blue is usually one of the colors too so that would make 3 light blocks.

Once you mix all the blocks together I think it will work out just fine;)
