New Quilt on the Frame

I worked on Friday evening when I would have been exercising in getting the Carpenter’s Wheel on the quilting frame.  This one went on very easily considering the size and took barely over an hour to get all three layers in place and the room back in order!  I love it when it goes on the frame so nice and smoothly.  Barely a wrinkle in anything it laid so nice and flat.

I started to mark the design ideas coming to be as I was looking at it and even got started quilting a little bit trying out the blue variegated thread that I had picked out – this one is called Ice from Aurifil #12 – I have one full spool and most of another.  Linking to Kathy’s Slow Sunday Stitching and I will get in some stitches off and on all day, also linking to Quilting is More Fun than Housework –

The gray/black border will just have these diagonal lines on it – they are spaced one inch apart.

I’m figuring this part out still – drawing some on one block to see how I like it – making it up as I go – this was the second design worked – the first one was spritzed out.  The gray area might need one more line maybe at the bottom of the gray or one at the bottom and and one at the top.  I like the quilting to be a little closer.

This area of the design comes together in between the stars and I haven’t decided on that yet but I need to as it is the next area to be quilted – this is the full area

This is a partial area above the gray/black border – if you scroll back up to the area I quilted you can see the corners have 3 blocks.  Whatever I decide it will be straight lines of some type.  Keep it simple.

This is one of the areas that I mention is over grown once again – believe about 3 years ago other than one or two hardwoods and the pine tree to the side Mike had cleared this area out and we just had the bulbs and yucca’s growing here – and we are right back to dense growth once again.

Nice design you have worked out! It’s going to look great. It doesn’t seem to take long for the garden to backfill does it? It’s never ending!

And sew another quilt is on the frame and the quilting has begun! I was noticing that we have some weeds coming up in our gardens that will need to be dealt with soon. The grass needs to be cut too…. I love this time of year when the spring flowers are blooming and the leaves are coming out. You are ahead of us in this regard. Happy quilting !

Carpenter’s Wheel looks so neat on the frame, and I think your quilting design is beautiful, especially with the variegated blue.
When we lived on acreage there were areas that refused to stay cleared. One time we bought some kind of rolling weed chopper that looked like a big stroller and we made a path through the forest. It was so much fun! But it was overgrown within 3 months, so we gave up on it. 😉

You sure didn’t waste any time in getting another quilt on the frame! It’s going to be a beautiful finish.

Love the quilt and love the thread color!

I’m liking the ice thread on the quilt, and the quilting designs you have chosen for it. Glad it all went on the rack so easily!

I love that thread color! It’s going to be pretty against the gray and black, as well as on the colorful sections. Deciding how to quilt is always the first hurdle to get over. This is going to be beautiful!

I love the quilting design you came up with for this quilt. It will be gorgeous as all your works are. I have no idea for the connecting space except it will have to be some straight lines or points to match the rest. I’m sure you will come up with something perfect. Every time I come to your blog, I feel that I should declutter my frame and use it as it should be used instead of a “parking lot” for fabrics. Mother Nature always re-acquires her land. Enjoy the stitching day. ;^)

Thank you for sharing your design process; I found it quite interesting.

I love that thread, just my color!

That was quick, getting the next quilt on the frame. It is always a plus when the top is flat and no need to fuss with it.
I have areas like that too that were so nice and clean and 2 years it’s full again. I know some people plant things 2 feet apart but I can’t talk myself into that.

Trees and bushes take over quickly here too. We just had 3 bug pine trees cut down that were too close to the house. I’m always asking Chris if we can have “chainsaw day”. There’s so much that needs to be thinned out here.

I like where you are going with your quilting designs for your Carpenter’s Wheel. It is crazy how quickly Mother Nature “fills in” when your back is turned. . .

I will enjoy watching your quilting on this pretty quilt. I like the design in the yellow star and the parallel lines in the border.

Another of your lovely quilts all framed up for quilting. Good on you.
