Rainy Day

Well it rained and although it wasn’t all day and I was in and out I made a little progress on English Ivy

The next block ready to stitch today – all of the rest of the blocks in that stack have their sew lines penciled on and ready to stitch when this block is done.

Quilting on The Carpenter’s Wheel from Thursday night

The hexies have 5 rows done now and 3 more rows to go and stitch all the rows together.  Linking to Patchwork and Quilting today – a lot of nice quilts at the link ups!

Mike got the redbud tree that hangs over the garden trimmed and we have the branches cleared out to where they can be burned.  Before

IMG_4223

After  – we have a lot more red buds but they are smaller but started flowering more this year.

This lily kind of sent up 3 stalks with a deformed flower I guess you could say – they shouldn’t be star shaped like this and never were before  and less purple.

A lot more white should be there and fuller white petals

pretty rose

Crinum’s are open but the rain got them – they don’t usually hang down so low.  If they perk up I will get another shot

English Ivy is coming along so nicely! That is odd about the deformed lily. I have no idea what would cause that. Your garden is looking good. Mike put in a lot of work removing those branches.

Pretty flowers! The deformed lily is pretty, though! Your sewing projects are great!

You have such a pretty view from your sewing space. Wow Mike did a great job clearing out! I’ve read about roses reverting to “rootstock” – I wonder if lilies do the same.
Just found out my SIL wants to come and visit this month, so I need to get her quilt on the longarm! It has been waiting for months to be quilted, I’ve just been procrastinating.
Hope you have a great weekend!

It looks like you can enjoy two different blooms on the same plant-it’s a bonus! We have had enough rain to last us a couple weeks now, bring on the sunshine!

Looks like the rest of your English Ivy blocks will be a quick finish now with all the pieces ready to go! That’s interesting about the strange shaped lily – they are pretty, though. Pretty rose, too!

Your design wall is lovely with these English Ivy blocks, and I love the background of the new green one. Fun prints! It’s a very good idea to cut ahead the pieces, the making will be faster. The portion of hexies is growing nicely, as does the quilting on The Carpenter’s Wheel. Thank you for sharing your quilting studio work in progress, and your beautiful garden too!

We had a redbud tree when I was a child, but it never looked that healthy. It must be in a particularly good spot for it. Hopefully future blooms on the lily will be better.

You will have better air circulation and light now in your garden. Redbuds have lots of dead branches every years but most of mine are too high to cut off.
I wonder if the lily is reverting back to an original that it might have been modified from. With colorful Coneflowers that I bought at the garden center they almost always reverted back to white after a few years.
We’re getting light showers today and we need the rain.

The English Ivy block captured my attention. It creates great secondary patterns. Love the scrappy look you gave it.

What a difference a trim makes. Such pretty flowers you have blooming. I really like that surprise star flower.

You are motoring along with all your projects. Very pretty flowers in your garden. We missedo out on the rain yesterday, but we are due for a lot tomorrow. Hopefully you’ll have a sunny Sunday and some cooler weather so you can stitch out on the porch.
