102 Degrees–114 Heat Index

What did I do yesterday in that heat – I went grocery shopping in the morning and although I didn’t go early I didn’t think it would be so hot when I got home at 12:30 – I had such a bad nights sleep on Thursday night that I was dragging.  I felt like it was one of those nights where you basically get no sleep!!  So I had got off to a late start to shop.  When I got home it was 102 degrees and it stayed there almost all day before late afternoon it started to drop very, very slowly.  I never went back outside again until after dark to spray the houseplants down while waiting for Jessica and Honey to arrive.

I only did a little sewing after two bad attempts to try to take a nap in the afternoon – no luck – but I got a little hexie work done.

I was going through some boxes and trays on the shelves to see what was in them and found two sets of fabric pieces cut and ready for sewing.  When I first got my Accuquilt I was cutting fabric trying out dies while cleaning scraps up and stacking thinking one day! and then one day never came and I forgot about them!! I will need to cut more but here is enough for a project – half hexies that are 6 inch sides I believe  I will need to count up how many I need to make a couch quilt.  Mixed variety of scraps.

And these are 3 inch tumblers I believe – more of these needed too – would be nice for alternating light versus prints – looks dust in this box but it must be lint as it was covered!  In good mix of fabric in this one too.

One thing I plan to do this morning or early afternoon is make a Blackberry Cobbler to use up the homegrown blackberries from the garden – I only have one very full quart size bag of them and the girls love them so I will share – at some point today I need to go through home canned goods and make up a box for each of the girls to take home and give me a little more space in the pantry.  I’m not sure what we are cooking up today as it will be hot again so don’t want the oven on all day – the cobbler will only take about 45 minutes and that is long enough.  It will not be a cook outside day for sure! More of what we had yesterday so something inside for sure.  I will skip posting Sunday and back to it on Monday. Have a good weekend everyone.

What a nice surprise on those already-cut pieces! My radar app shows some parts of SE Oklahoma and west Arkansas are getting some rain this morning, we have a few clouds as a result. Blackberry cobbler – yum! Hope you have a great day with your girls and a wonderful weekend.

That kind of heat can be especially hard to handle when you feel like you’ve had no sleep. Ugh. I’m sorry you had such an unpleasant day.

Have a great time with your girls today! It’s too bad it’s so darn hot, though. These are the times when it would be so enjoyable to be able to sit outside and visit. Blackberry cobbler sounds yummy! It will be fun to see what you do with those boxes of already cut pieces.

It is way to hot to be out doing anything. The forecast says we get a bit of break in the high temps, I’m ready! Enjoy the weekend with your girls.

Oh, love those boxes of pre cut fabrics! I should try that with my Accuquilt dies that I have yet to open. Enjoy you time with the girls. Sounds like cold salads and sandwiches would be good with that heat.

I used 208 of the large half hexagons for a quilt 58″ x 80″. Here is a photo of it https://exuberantcolor.blogspot.com/2018/11/many-thanks-and-quilt-top.html
    I used 300 half hexagons for a quilt 73″ x 93″.

That kind of heat saps your energy and not getting a good night’s rest makes for a difficult day. Best to take things easy. Blackberry cobbler sounds delicious. 125g (4.5oz) of blackberries in the supermarket here costs about six dollars.

Our area is under a high that is giving us intense heat too. Take care of yourself.

Oh man, that’s too hot to do anything!

Sounds like it was a really nice visit with those young ladies! Neither of mine has any interest in sewing but one knits and the other is learning to crochet. Love that Crossroads project!
