When I went outside to drink my morning coffee and listen to the birds it was about 74 degrees – it felt so nice. I went and got my hair cut and it was about mid-80’s by time I got home it was 90 . And then it got hot – and hotter getting up to 103 by 1PM and stayed there for hours – finally last night at 7PM it dropped to 95 really cool huh. I will be so glad if the cool front they say is coming will really be here. Possible only 85 on Saturday – that will feel better for sure. I know I whine a lot about the weather – I’m just not good with heat anymore and our summer’s are so long here in Arkansas. It never used to bother me so much – I’m glad I don’t live further south than I do or in town where it gets hotter from all the pavement.
So seeing as it was hot and I was inside I got another Scrappy Crossroads block done – these are 16.5 inch blocks
I did some stitching on the hexies – one and a half rows left to do
And quilting on The Carpenter’s Wheel from Monday night
I never did started making the pickle relish but I do hope to get to that today and to put the bread machine into action and try a new recipe. I haven’t made bread in awhile. I have a recipe for cornmeal yeast bread I will let you know how it turns out – combination of cornmeal and wheat/white flour. If I remember right honey for the sweetener?
A new bundle of neutrals from the Green Fairy somehow arrived in my mailbox – a moment of sales weakness perhaps?

Massive clearance sale is going on – many items are at half price and some are marked down even more – they need room for new items coming in. When I looked I saw many jelly rolls half price, fat quarter bundles and yardage at half price. I’m not sure how long the sale last I have a feeling until most of it leaves their store.
I looked last night and it said the sale is still going on so I guess they are really trying to clear out some things. I got a bundle of tiny prints on whites to go with the hexies and they arrived yesterday.

We are hot here in central Alabama especially with our air on the blink for 9 days! We are blessed to have our motor home to go to in the drive way for air conditioning while waiting for the part- finally came in and fixed yesterday! So no quilting for a while for me! Can’t wait to get back to it. I stay out of the hot like you as much as I can. And the humidity here is as bad. Can’t wait for fall!
We are getting rain and lots of it!! Your new quilt blocks are wonderful!
Wow you actually got hotter than we did. We hit 101, and the humidity was 24%! We have that same chance for cooler weather starting Saturday and a 20% chance of showers. I’m with you on the heat. We still talk about moving north, maybe as far as northern OK or Kansas, because although it still gets hot, at least there is more of a chance of getting any of the cool fronts that rarely make it down this far.
Your bread sounds good. I have a couple recipes for cornmeal yeast rolls, and they are a big favorite here. I’ve not tried it in a loaf, and now I want to!
I was weak also this week. I bought yardage from Linda’s Electric Quilters in McKinney, which is only 35 miles south of us. But they have an Etsy shop (Lindascom) with free shipping on everything, so why should I spend gas money going down there? 😀
I’m having a harder time with the hotter summers lately, too! Humidity was high here yesterday, which makes it worse. We’re supposed to have one more day of high 90s, and then cooling down tomorrow. I sure hope they’re right about that! Your bundle of neutrals from Green Fairy is really appealing – I always need more of those!
I hear you about not dealing well with the heat. I am in the same boat. One of the many reasons we moved to western NC. That said, the high humidity is more than making up for the more moderate temperatures. Ha! Fabric collecting is also a valid hobby. 😀 But I know you will make good use of it.
That is super hot! It’s not wining, it’s talking the truth about climate change. We have to join together and do something about it before it’s too late.
Typo should be “whining”
I feel your pain about hot weather. It’s getting oppressive here as well. So, I’ll listen to your coplaints if you’ll listen to mine! That new bundle will come in very handy.
Yesterday was finally nice 70’s and lower humidity, otherwise the humidity has been high which makes even 80’s miserable. The nights have been in the 50’s!
Hahaha — fabric that you forgot you ordered just magically showed up in your mailbox? Same thing happened to me yesterday! Glad you’re able to stay inside where it’s cool. We have to walk our dog even when it’s hot and sticky and gross outside and just a 10 minute stroll to the stop sign to “take care of business” wipes out all of my energy and motivation! I love the contrast between your bright scraps and those dark strips/bars in Crossroads.
Summer does seem like it’s been really long this year. I’m hoping we get the same break from the 100 plus degree temps the rest of the week. Scrappy crossroads is looking good.
I hope the Canadian front gets down to you. It is great weather here in Chicago area now. I don’t do well in the heat either, it just saps my energy level.
It’s funny when 85 seems like a relief! It’s so horribly humid here today with the storm rolling in to accompany us on our drive tomorrow.
No wonder you are complaining about the weather – 103 degrees must be so hard to cope with. Staying inside and sewing must give you much relief. Sitting outside in the shade would be pleasant too, I’m sure.
103! I do hate those days…but am glad cooler weather is coming. Ours arrived yesterday…blissful. We do have Debby visiting later this week but yesterday and today are glorious!
