Wet, Dreary Winter Days

We are pretty much in the “rainy” season in Arkansas.  Usually our winters are quite wet – rain not snow and this past two weeks it has been just that.  I look forward to dryer days already even if they will be cold – the next week for us in the 60’s and wet.

So seeing as I knew all my errands were done and no reason to go outside I did get two more log cabin blocks done making the blocks half way done.  Of course now the blocks are at that stage where it is hard to get a photo because of the lack of sunshine in the room and the quilting frame and desk blocking the wall – but it is the only place for the wall so it must do.

The top two blocks on the left side are neutral blocks that are a little darker than I decided I wanted so I might make two new blocks before I go any further and then sew this half together so I can raise the whole top higher so I won’t be working low to the floor

I needed a little snack of Christmas cookies as I worked and enjoyed them!

I believe I need at least 50 more white hexies before I start to put that section together for Noriko’s Star

Scrappy Crossroads came to the end of row on Wednesday night and was rolled down to work on last night.

Deer yesterday at the pile of scrap lumber in the back yard where it is out of the way.  First they were near the garden area where we spotted 4 of them then they moved to the back yard nearer to the woods.  There is another one in the woods that we could see but didn’t show in this photo.  I assume deer season must be over that they are now showing up again – I know I haven’t heard any gun shots off in the distance for awhile now.

Love seeing your deer sightings, I miss the ones we used to see at the front of our property. It has been wet here too, with 60s promised this week but at least it will be fairly cold at night. There were tornadoes in the state, but nothing severe here. Those cookies look delicious!

I love seeing the deer. We have some that come by and empty out the bird feeder. We don’t mind.

I’m done with the wet and dreary, but I’ll take that over the strong storms they had in Texas. It is weather that makes the sewing room look really attractive.

It’s hard to get good quilt photos this time of year with the days so short, but we get the idea! You’re really making good progress on the log cabin design. Love seeing your deer – looks like one was even climbing on the wood pile. Hope your weather dries out some – you could send it this way as we could use the moisture!

I’m glad those deer survived hunting season! I think sewing is the best thing to do on rainy days. Enjoy!

I would put the darker light blocks in the corners and they will look good.

You always get so much more rain than us, and we are getting the storm from your area. We will be lucky to get a half inch over a couple days.

Dear season is over here, too, and I’ve seen quite a few tracks in the snow in the mornings. I do love to watch them, but they are mostly nocturnal here since our road can be busy. I love the way your log cabin quilt is coming along!
