First Border Almost Done

I was busy cutting squares in the morning and then sewing in the afternoon and pleased that the first border is almost done on the Rose Garden.  All the patchwork will just be pinned to the wall and then I will sew all the borders on one after another in a couple weeks when I get done with it.

I put all the squares in trays to keep then organized and not fly away if I bump into them or whatever – disposable cake pans come in handy especially when they have covers too.

The fabrics for Rose Garden are so pretty, and they look so organized in those pans. That is a great idea, easy to store if they are empty too.
    Love that pretty hexie!
Got our running around and doctor appointments done yesterday, so today will be catch up day. I had a quilt on the longarm, and one of the cats decided to make it his hammock for the day while we were gone. Oh joy, I get to redo it!

I’m loving our patchwork border on Rose Garden! The cake pans with lids are a great idea for storing cut pieces, too. I’ll have to remember that!

Both your projects are looking good. That grid looks like a lot of work, but it’s going to look so good when that NYB is completed.

Oh my gosh, that Rose Garden looks magnificent there on the wall, Karen. What an accomplishment! As are all your quilts of course. I’m in awe.

Rose Garden is going to be a beautiful quilt! What an elegant solution to the poor pattern.

I love your choice for the outer border! The simplicity of the patches beautifully complements the complexity of the star blocks.

I don’t have any clear lids for my aluminum pans but they sure would be handy. The border is looking good.

You are very well organized with with cut squares, all packed away so nice and tidy. Means that you can see exactly what you have available, of course.

Using the pans is a neat way to store your little squares:)

Rose Garden is looking great with it’s border. Love your idea of using disposable cake pans for keeping the squares. I have to look if I can find some with lids here.
