Progress on All

I didn’t get done quilting on Scrappy Crossroads Thursday night – but almost so I know I finished it last night and will show it this weekend.    Only this much left to quilt.  Just the border and a couple of the X’s aren’t completely finished.

And the section for Noriko’s Star was finished – but it had to be laid out on the floor – it was too wet outside.  Linking to Patchwork and Quilting –

Three more sections to do and then the corners to make it all square

In this photo you can see more how large the sections will need to be to make it square.  Before I make it square though I need to measure the whole top and possibly cut a little off the peaks of the pointy sides.  I can only fit just so much on my quilting frame and I am thinking it might be too wide right now.  We will see that is another year off at this rate.

Two more log cabin blocks were made – 5 left to do

I had hoped the deck would dry out for photos of Noriko’s Star yesterday – this was at 10 AM – it got up to 52 degrees

And then it turned gray, cloudy and windy – light rain in the afternoon – but now we have this much – it will dry out this weekend and then be freezing cold  – I will get a new photo of it outside after the next section.

Your snow sure disappeared quickly! Is there someway you could quilt most of Noriko’s star and then shift it over on your frame to quilt the last strip? It is going to be a huge quilt but so pretty.
Love the striped binding you will be putting on your crossroads quilt.
    Have a good weekend

Do you stitch faster as you get closer to the end of a quilt? 😀 Noriko’s Star is amazing. Will you do a different design to square it? It is blowing like crazy here, our flags are about to blow off the pole.

Oh Noriko!!! Will the corner pieces to square up the quilt be solid or will there be more flower designs? I think I’d have to stop everything else right now to be able to finish that masterpiece!!!

You’ve made good progress on all three projects! I like that striped binding for Scrappy Crossroads. We had record high temps on Weds and Thurs, but Arctic cold going through this weekend and several inches of snow. I guess it really is winter!

Are you thinking you will be able to stitch Noriko all together this year? Will you do the corners like the photo or make up your own?

Wow! I am always amazed at how much quilting progress you make each week. NS is looking amazing. Love the binding choice for crossroads. I hope the patio dry’s out for you this weekend for some photo’s. Enjoy your weekend.

By now you probably have that quilt off the frame and ready for trimming.
The cold air will start moving in here this afternoon and most of our snow is gone. At least the roads shouldn’t be slippery when the cold blast hits us.

Congrats on finishing the quilting on Scrappy Crossroads! Noriko’s Star looks even more amazing each time I see it.

Noriko’s Star is awesome. It’s definitely a masterpiece. I’m not looking forward to the cold this weekend, thankfully I have no place to go. Stay warm. Happy stitching.

So very close on both projects! Today is beautiful here, but that will change and next week may be very interesting weather-wise. We made an unscheduled grocery run this morning just to be sure we’ve got everything stowed for wintery weather.

I can’t imagine doing so many hexies. It’s looking lovely.

Starting Monday our daytime temps will be in the teens and nighttime in the single digits with -2 degrees F on Tuesday night. NS is just amazing.

Oh, the diagonal stripe is going to be a perfect binding!

  • Gwyned Trefethen Jan 19, 2025 @ 3:24

Noriko’s Star is a stunner. Although you weren’t able to photograph it in natural light due to weather, that weather gave you the opportunity to make great progress on your projects.

Noriko’s Star continues to WOW me every time you post about it. Do you feel a little sad or lots of joy as you approach the end of a project? It is a little of both for me each time! Your diagonal stripe is going to make a fantastic binding!!

  • Frédérique Jan 19, 2025 @ 11:44

Scrappy Crossroads looks fantastic, hooray for a new finish! Wow, Noriko is just gorgeous, and huge! When it’s finished, will you display it on a wall or a bed? Boy, I love this quilt 😉
Thank you for sharing your work in progress, and linking up.
