Yesterday we had a dreary somewhat rainy day – you know that kind of day where is it or isn’t it going to rain, then it finally starts light rain so you don’t feel like going outside kind of day – so sewing got done.
Progress on the border for The Rose Garden and the new work station is working out well.
I like the way it is looking and glad I went with this fairly easy finish for this quilt.
I am running out of 2.5” squares that had already been cut so today I need to spend some time with the Accuquilt and cut some more squares – I have the board that cuts 9 pieces and 4-6 layers at a time makes fast work of it. I already cut pieces that fit the board for little waste so I can get the most out of the pieces that I had left.
While I was doing sewing in the sewing room I had Scrappy Crossroads in the washing machine and took another photo after it dried but I couldn’t take it outside it was dripping too much rain. The quilt ended at 67”x80” inches. This one was pieced in August 2024 and quilted in November to January of this year.
Not a lot of crinkle but some
I got the hexie box out and picked out colors for the next sections flowers and all the white and black – and now to start thread basting.
Quilting on New York Beauty from Saturday night
I think this pertains to hand quilting – a little stitching no matter 5 minutes or 60 a day and you will eventually get done!

A dreary day outside means lots of sewing gets done inside.
Rose Garden is so, so pretty. Your space looks really neat with your new cart. That is something to think about, just a little sewing each day and eventually you will get there!
Our day was dreary too, with just enough drizzle to make the dogs’ paws all muddy – lol! Heavy rain predicted this week and then warmer next week – looking forward to a bit of warmth.
Yes , a little each day will get us somewhere. I like that you are doing a patchwork border. And you have given me the idea to do one for my little butterfly quilt I’m making. I hope to start cutting scrap squares today. I always enjoy seeing your sewing setup. It looks perfect!
The patchwork border for the Rose Garden quilt is going to be really pretty! So nice you have the Accuquilt to speed up cutting. Scrappy Crossroads looks great right out of the dryer, too! I like that saying – it’s so true that even if you only have a little bit of time, things get done that move your projects along!
Dear Karen,
So very true, a few minutes a day will get a project done over time. It is great to see your Rose Garden on the design wall. Got the pattern a few years back. Working on existing projects this year, it will reduce some clutter and clear some space. Still very cold up north, with more cold coming. Hibernating with hand quilting in front of the fire is the best way to get through this winter. The gardening chair is a brilliant idea in the sewing room!
I do like where you are going with Rose garden’s borders. A little sewing here and a little there and it all adds up in the end!
Rose Garden is coming along. You picked a great way to finish off the quilt. That is a lot of 2.5″ squares, glad you can cut so many at once. Scrappy Crossroads came out beautifully.
Scrappy Crossroads turned out really nice! Does it have a designated home or purpose?
I like what you are doing with Rose Garden. I know you will be happy to have that one done!
