Yesterday I didn’t do a lot, I spent more time relaxing with a book then any sewing.  I did get the last row of hexagons done and they are ready to add to the section soon.

I got more quilting done on New York Beauty Saturday night and that is progressing well.

And this section was started

I was asked which quilt do I think will go on the quilting frame next – I think it will be the Rose Garden – it is a fairly large quilt but not as big as New York Beauty.  I started the Rose Garden back in 2021 so it has been around awhile – I kept putting it aside working on other things.  Off hand I am pretty sure I have a backing for this one that is was put in the basket a couple months ago – I need to look and make sure – I will do that when I start the border of New York Beauty and make sure I do have all I need for it – I know I have batting – I need to check and see what colors of thread I have on hand.  It finished at about 90 x 96 I think.  This will have a lot if easy quilting on it – diagonal lines through the little squares – the pieced blocks will have designs to so with the blocks.

I planted two sweet red pepper plants and a cucumber plant which probably has about 3 vines in it in a large pot on the deck.  I really do have a poor record with peppers and cucumbers in the garden and they usually get ripped out from not producing much and I’m amazed to say they look so much better in a pot then I have ever had in the garden – it would be amazing if I get much from them – keeping my fingers crossed.  I put those cement disc under the pot the hold it up for better drainage.  Mike makes these whenever he happens to do some cement work and has extra cement – he will place it in the 5 gallon buckets that we have from Lowes and when they dry they pop out.  I also put them in tall plant stands for extra weight on the base so they don’t tip from wind.

Last year when I had been thinning out the strawberries I don’t know why now but I decided to put some in pots for the porch I guess I thought they would look pretty so why not.  They barely seemed to survive the winter but I did get a handful of berries off of them and now they are getting so nice and full – very pretty – they will stay for now and I will redirect the runners back to the soil and see what happens.  I need to look for an extra to put under the strawberry plant that doesn’t have anything under it.

I have lots of flowers in pots on my patio and three herbs …rosemary, parsley and oregano. Your next quilt for hand quilting is so pretty.

Rose Garden is beautiful. Very feminine! What a great idea to use up the extra cement that way.

Glad you picked Rose Garden, it’s so pretty. Those concrete circles are genius, what a great idea! Your peppers and cukes look great.

Those cement circles, what a clever idea! Your NYB is stunning.

Sounds like you had a really nice Sunday! I bet you’re ready to get the Rose Garden quilt finished after all this time – great idea to quilt it next. Your peppers, cucumbers, and strawberry plant do look happy in those pots. My cucumber is doing well, too, but no blossoms yet. Those cement rounds look very handy – another great idea!

Some days a bit of stitching and a good book is just the way to go. Has it really been 4 years since you started Rose Garden? Wow!

I think Rose Garden would be a great choice for your next in-the-frame project. The cement discs are a great idea. I’m trying to rescue a porch pot that was overwatered. I did not realize that it wasn’t draining well.

Rose Garden looks like a good one to quilt on in the summer.
The strawberry plants look so cute in pots. Maybe your daughter who lives near you would know someone who would like the plants.
I’m glad you mentioned cucumbers. I need to check and see if the ones I planted in a pot have peeked out with the rain we got a couple days ago.

Such great progress on the hexagons and NYB! It is always fun to see the change on the frame, and nice that you have a plan.
