Georgetown On My Mind

Yesterday I didn’t work on the hexies but at the sewing machine instead and made progress on the orange Georgetown block – I got the center ready for applique and finished that part of it.

I did start on the next ring but didn’t get that finished – I will continue on that ring next.

This New York Beauty block was finished being hand quilted on Wednesday night and I moved to the other block in the center of the quilt.

This one I picked up on last night to finish it.  I was able to use the flower design in the blue batik for the quilting design.

The hydrangea bush is very pretty this year with a variety of colors from pink, lavender to lilac on it like years past.

I had notice when I went outside to cut the hydrangea that I finally found the original Easter Lily that I was thinking about last week!! it is so small the iris’s are hiding it – no wonder I hadn’t seen it for a couple years – it was hiding!!

It is small just like they are in the pots they come from

I love that you quilted around the flowers! You knew you had an original Easter lily in there! I used to have some, but the stray cats took over that flower bed. It’s very sandy soil and they took it over as a litter box. Ugh!

Your orange block for Georgetown is looking wonderful! I love the different shades of orange that you’re using in it. Those hydrangeas are gorgeous! That’s something I’ve never tried growing, although I see pots of them at the garden centers. I wonder how they do in Colorado.

The hydrangeas are so lovely. Now that’s an Easter Lily! I had planted those hydrangeas but the pink never flowered and the blue only once I think. I’ve got 4 blocks done on my NYB. Picked an easy pattern for a first and just using my stash. Had some opposition to my intended trip to the quilt store. Lol. So I practice for now but there’s bigger and better plans ahead! ;))

The quilting is looking great and I love to see fabric as a guide for the quilting. I can see why you had trouble finding the Easter lily, but glad you did.

I always enjoy seeing the pink/blue/lavender Hydrangeas because I don’t have any of that variety. I’m hoping to see some blooms on the mini hydrangea I saved at the end of the season 2 years ago at a gardening center. It was looking pretty bad when I planted it.
I wonder if Easter Lily is a smaller variety than the Asiatic Lily.

The oranges look great together. What a pretty lily! I remember one year in south Texas we got a couple of Easter lilies at church, and after they finished blooming I threw them into a corner of the outside of our house, and they came back every year. Love your hydrangea!

Beautiful Hydrangea! Such delicate colors, it’s one of my favorite flowers. You’ve been moving along on all of your projects recently. Hard to believe you are almost done quilting on NYB.
