Hexies and More

I decided to bite the bullet and get the mitered border cut for Georgetown and on the wall I might want to change colors around a little – not really sure.  One of the gray pieces I had been using only had enough available to one piece and another might be used for the final outer border so I didn’t use a lot of that one.  All the pieces are cut the same size but over large at the moment in case of mistakes in cutting.  I will fix that as I go.  I always rather have too large then not large enough when I am down to the last pieces and don’t have a lot left over.  The big colored circles will be scattered around on the border – maybe several sizes to make it more playful.  All is just pinned to the wall right now.  The lighting makes some of the colors a little lighter than they actually are.  Lower left and upper right side pieces are the same darker gray as some of the middle of the quilt is.  I thought it best to get a couple of those darker pieces mixed in.

I sat and listened to my book a lot as I really want to get those that corner done on Noriko’s Star – and it is getting there!

And of course the quilting on The Rose Garden from Sunday night.  One more big star block to do before I get to the border.  I have been able to most of the block area but can’t quite reach the whole thing.

I found out the Ortho clinic was able to arrange for me to get all the pre-testing that I need done before surgery on the 12th on one day so it won’t be two different days of running to Little Rock so I will get that done on the 6th – two different places but they aren’t real far apart.

I like the look of that wide border. There’s space for the circles you mention as well as some very nice quilting. The width makes a nice frame all the way around, too.

Yay for the border on Georgetown, it really looks nice. Noriko Star is really coming along! I just put your surgery on my calendar. It’ll be nice to have that behind you, right?
It got to 99° briefly yesterday, I bet it makes 100° today. Just have to endure 3 more days of this before it “cools” down into the low 90s. 😉

Georgetown’s border looks great! Starting a little bit bigger than you need seems like the best strategy for those sections. The various colored circles scattered around will be really pretty on the gray. Glad you’re getting those appointments set. Coordinating all of that can be a lot of work!

I like your thought of perhaps different size circles on that outside gray border.

That’s good to hear they coordinated your tests to all be on the same day. Maybe it will be a little cooler weather by the 6th for traveling.

I popped down to your previous post and checked out Norka Star. Great progress! And, Georgetown looks amazing. I can’t wait to see how you finish it. I just looked over it again…how do you get such perfect circles. Honestly, they (and you) are amazing.

You are making great progress on all your projects. Glad to hear you won’t have to do much running around to get your pre surgery testing all done. That makes life so much simpler when you need it to be.
