I took a night off of quilting on The Rose Garden on Monday night for a rare change and worked on some circles and hexagons and continued that work off and on Tuesday in the daytime hours. The heat has come back so it is mainly inside work and reading.
All of the circles are made for Georgetown which still doesn’t have its final name selected. These circles are cut out and have the gathering thread on them ready for the Mylar circles and the iron. As I prepare them I will pin them to the quilt with my tiny applique pins and when done lay it out on my table and start to glue baste them in place. I would like to have it done before I go to my surgery so I can work on it while sitting in my chair so much. There are a couple that I’m not sure if I will leave in as I’m not quite satisfied with them the lavender one in the lower right half and the smaller print one on the upper left side – I’m pretty sure they will be taken off as I don’t quite like the look of the colors. I also might move the yellow circle that is by the green block – kind of close to the yellow circle in the middle – I can move it to the lower area in the pink/blue area.
I had worked on hexie prep for two days and have the 3 row of hexies ready to put together.
Two rows done – the next two corners will be reverse layout
That’s it for now I should have an update from at least a little quilting on The Rose Garden from Tuesday night next blog post.

I really love Georgetown-soon-to-be-renamed! Looks like you’ve got a nice start on projects for recovery. It was low 90s here yesterday and supposed to start climbing to 100 the rest of the week. I guess now we start hoping for a tropical system to come our way and some rain make its way north.
Do you have tons of hexies cut so you have that ready to work on also while recovering? How are your hands holding up with so much handwork?
Georgetown is really fun with all of the circles scattered around! I can imagine it’s a challenge to get all the colors balanced just right, but I think it’s looking good. Glad you have lots of hexies cut and ready to sew onto the corner piece. That seems like a good way to be prepared for after the back surgery!
The Endeavors challenge, that just had its reveal, was effervescence and that’s what I keep thinking of when I see your top…..bubbly, colorful effervescence! I am keeping you in my thoughts for your surgery, that it goes well, your recovery isn’t too uncomfortable, that you can do hand work and, most of all, you get maximum relief when it’s all over.
I agree on removing those 2. The lavender blends into the gray too much. Maybe you have a pinker lavender to take its place or a dull orange.
The hexie flowers look lovely! It looks like you have three yellow circles in a row, so yes, I would move one of them. It thinks it’s great that you are planning these ahead of time. Just make sure not to hurt your wrist from all those hand stitching.

Georgetown is looking good, the circles work well. You’ll get the arrangement down soon. Not ready for the hot weather to come back, it was so nice most of last week.
These hand projects will be great for your recovery period.
You are making great progress on Georgetown – and I like that you will change up what doesn’t suit you. Good job prepping for recovery time and having projects at the ready…but you are very good at doing that!
