More Circles & Plants

Yesterday I got more circles cut out and moved this and that around – added a few, removed a few and now have this (some of the pieces are not pressed so forgive the folds) too many dark ones now on the upper left so need to change one or two of them out.

I didn’t quilt anything on Rose Garden on Wednesday night but tried a little bit last night so will show that next post.  I did work on hexies

And finally got enough for another row – next row will start having the flowers added in row by row.

I saw this hexagon quilt as a kit last year, fabric, papers and acrylic hexie for fussy cutting.  But I was not going to pay the price it was way to much for a quilt that says 66 x79 I believe.  I know it was Tula Pink fabrics but $400+ was more than I am willing to pay.  I might find enough from the scraps to start it after I finish Noriko’s Star – and I might not!!  I do like it though.

I’ve had my plants on the porch since April – several of them looked really poorly then and some more have been added from Mother’s Day – I have no idea if two of them would survive in the house – we will see.

These two are the ones I’m not sure about in the house.  The green/burgundy one I can not remember the name of but is a common one to have outside in the summer – it started small and is now on it’s second pot – I know I have had them in the garden before but never in the house.  The one with red flowers is called a Brazilian Jasmin and the hummingbirds have been coming to it a lot.  It is a tropical plant I have never had one in the house.  One I had briefly last year but a chilly night killed it before I moved them all to the house.

The green/burgundy plant is coleus. I have something similar to the Brazilian Jasmine, but it is Crown of Thorns. I’ve had it for a couple of years, but it never bloomed until I put it outside. Now it’s looking pretty. Our nighttime temperatures are getting cooler, so the plants will probably come inside before Labor Day.

It’s good to keep those circles movable until you get the colour placement to your liking. I hope your surgery goes well and that you are able to move around easier and pain free afterwards. I’m glad they are able to get it done soon.

That new hexie quilt design you found is gorgeous! Do you think you would work row by row on a design like that, rather than from the middle like NS has been done? I wouldn’t buy a kit for it either – just work from my stash. Your plants look really happy there on the porch – so green!

What fun to play with those circles. I love every photo you’ve posted and would never be able to make a decision on placement – lol! I used to bring coleus in the house when we lived in northeastern Oklahoma, and it did just fine in a window that received sun, but of course did best outside. That Brazilian Jasmin is so pretty.
We slugged around in the heat yesterday to accomplish a few errands. We had a few clouds which helped, but still got up to 98°.

Your porch looks like a plant nursery, so pretty and lush! Some of my flowers are doing good and some not so good.

Pretty as that quilt patter is, I wouldn’t have spent $400 for the kit either. I especially like the rows with the stars. I hope you decide to proceed.

Your green/burgundy plant is a Coleus and they grow inside, but rather than take the whole plant in, you can just take cuttings and root them in water and then plant as many as you want in the house. My grandma used to have a picture window that faced a gas station and my grandpa put glass shelving in front of it and grandma filled the shelves with Coleus.

The circles are all looking good, it’s hard to get just the right balance. Your plants look so green. My Guy left his plants in the house too long this spring and they still haven’t recovered even being outside.
