Border Cut

The border is now cut for Under the Big Top and I hope to work on it this week and get it in the “to be quilted” box – I have no idea when it will be quilted I think there are 5 or so quilts in the box and at least one of them is big bed size.  All border pieces are just cut and pinned to wall to see what it would look like.  They need to be trimmed in length.

While I had the fabric out I cut the binding strips so they will go with the top in the box because who knows how long it will be and that red could disappear into another top in the meantime.

More hexies are done and I am thread basting the 4th row – the next row will start to get the flowers mixed in.  Linking to Slow Sunday Stitching today

And I meant to sit at the frame yesterday afternoon to do a little quilting but the weather was so nice I was in and out instead – the high was 70!! how odd and we woke up to 58 degrees.  Last night and the next should be about the same.  I did get done with a little quilting on The Rose Garden through before I got my post written and scheduled.

I know what you mean about fabric disappearing into another project. That has happened to me a couple times.

I usually get my binding made ahead of the quilting. It’s nice to know it is stitched up ready and waiting at the end. No running around frantically looking for the border fabric either.

I love that red with the little flowers you’re using for the border and binding – it looks so pretty with the rest of the quilt! Sounds like a little feel of fall there. So nice to have it cooler, glad you could get outside! It’s a beautiful day here on the Oregon Coast – sunny and in the mid 60s. We’ve had a lot of fog this trip, so it’s nice to have the sun come out finally!

Definitely cooler here this past week. Nice to see you are back to doing a little hand quilting. Another hexie corner is underway. You are certainly keeping yourself busy as you recover.

Love the border you picked and loved it even more when I saw a closeup. I like to go ahead and prep the binding so I can just sew it right on and have no excuse not to finish – lol! Glad you had some time outside. It is forecast to be warmer and dry here for the next couple weeks – ugh – bring on the rain and cold! 😀

Chilly 60’s here yesterday but at least the sun was out. I think the temps are going to climb into 70’s starting today. Cute red border fabric.
