It is amazing how different the lighting can be for taking photos. I went into the sewing room about 7:30 yesterday morning and looked at the Rose Garden without any extra light except what was coming through the window – the quilting shows up very good. You can see every line. Linking to Patchwork and Quilting
This is with the lights turned on – sometimes in the evening when I take a photo to put on the blog this barely even shows up – this time it is pretty good. But the outline of the stars doesn’t show up as well as the first photo.
Some more work on the hexies. Added another row and half of the next made.
Applesauce muffins were made and I forgot to get a photo – I like muffins with a little butter for breakfast and hadn’t baked anything for over a month and thought it was time to make some. I still need to make blackberry cobbler and hadn’t gotten to it still – maybe next week?
The flannel that I ordered should be here on Monday according to the tracking. I hope it does I would love to get started on the Christmas quilt but it looks like that won’t be for a couple more days.
I saw a piece on an Instagram post from a fabric shop owner I don’t remember the name of it as it wasn’t one that I have used. She said that because of the tariffs she won’t be getting any fabric from India for now. I don’t know why but I thought most of the fabric was printed in China, Japan,Thailand ect. I didn’t know it is India too. Anyway she said she is expecting some of her prices to go up 18%. I hadn’t done any searches to see if other places are expecting the changes soon also. I’m glad I ordered my flannel when I did.

I love the first photo of the morning light on your quilting……so beautiful. And you baked! How good it must have felt to make muffins. I’ve been thinking about your previous discussion about getting raised beds for your gardening that are higher to make it easier for you. How wonderful that Mike is able to help make that happen for you…..accommodations vs ceasing an activity is so much better.
When I first started longarm quilting, I was introduced to the fact that a side light really shows the quilting off. I find photgraphing/lighting to be great at times and just not gonna happen at other times! And some of it depends on the fabric color too! Hit and miss for me:0 Do you have a specific cobbler recipe you use, I have never made one and have raspberries in the freezer;)
Pretty views of Rose Garden. Glad you were able to make some muffins. Blackberry cobbler sounds really good.
Still trying to decide whether or not to have a flowers-only garden next spring. We are holding off on buying sod till I decide.
I see rain finally in our 10-day forecast – not until next Wednesday and not a big chance, but I’ll take it.
I have noticed with machine quilting that the texture shows up better in dimmer light. I struggle with photographing quilts and am always trying to improve. Muffins for breakfast sounds good. I’m glad you’re recovering well enough to be in the kitchen! I really hope fabric doesn’t go up 18%! I already spend too much on fabric.
I love the photo where the quilting stands out. Just beautiful!
That morning photo definitely does show off your quilting on the Rose Garden – it’s beautiful! Hope you have a chance to make something with those blackberries soon. We came across wild blackberries in several along the coast on our trip and we picked some and ate them. So much tastier than what we can buy in the store here! It made me think of you and your berry garden.
Two different views of the quilting helps to see all of it. I hadn’t noticed the quilting in the stars before.
The hexie corner is coming along fast this time. I wonder if you will put this one on the frame next instead of going in the order that you made the tops.
It’s nice to have some fresh baked items now and then. I missed baking with all of the hot weather we had in the summer.
It looks so cool with the quilting texture showing so boldly. Are you at the middle point already?
Oh that first picture shows the quilting beautifully. You are baking, that’s wonderful. On Tuesday it will be two weeks from my knee replacement I wonder when I will be able to get around well enough to bake. I read that the Kaffe Fassett line of shot cottons are printed in India as are many of the free spirit fabrics. Also a lot of the Kauffman lines come from India. These tariffs are hurting small business owners, many of whom are women and it is all unnecessary. Also many small business yarn companies in the UbK and Italy are suffering. I heard 18% to 20 % increases can be expected to be paid by purchasers like us.
Those that think the tariffs will force these products to be made in the US are bedazzled by misinformation. The infrastructure to achieve this is gone and the cost to replace is prohibitive.
It’s amazing how the time of day changes the light. Plus the time of year, we are getting to the time when the late afternoon has that golden glow, it’s great for photos. Rose Garden is looking good. I’m pretty sure I saw the same post on Instagram. I asked our local quilt shop owner what she was expecting and she said a lot of companies hadn’t really indicated what the newest lines were going to run, other than they would all go up. She’s been trying to stock up on older basics that are available pre-tariff.
Yes, the lighting shows off your quilting very well: such a great finish to a pretty quilt. Just love this red/white combination and pattern.
Rose Garden is very pretty in the morning, I love how the quilting shows too! I hope that you have received the flannel. Thank you for sharing your work in progress and linking up!
