This quilt full of hexagons is coming to an end – in fact this corner will be done today I do believe and then it just needs to be joined to the top. I decided to lay out the final rows and thread baste as I needed to find a couple more black colors to mix in with what I had as I ended with just the plain black and didn’t want them one after another.
The part that is left to do – when I got done quilting last night I planned to finish this area up. When I get done quilting I usually move to the living room to watch another 45 minutes to an hour of Netflix or prime and continue working on the hexies so I can make progress and get it done.
The body of Silent Night is done – now to add a border. I am actually kind of tired of this quilt already I found the cutting instructions off in quite a few places. I would measure correctly and sew a 1/4″ seam and end up having to trim pieces as some would be too long or just a tad too wide. I was being really careful with cutting. It happened more than once and I don’t think it was all me. I had thought to add a pieced border that had some holly on it but now I’m thinking maybe just narrow strips of the white to finish it off – or seeing as I have a lot of green left maybe add a “brick” type border – measure pieces about 4 inches long or whatever and sew strips of them for the outside edge – I might do that instead of the holly which would take more time. I finished this section of The Rose Garden on Wednesday night now I will be moving over to the stars
Next up is this area – these stars will move faster than the previous rows as it is a more narrow section to finish up

It must be pretty exciting to see Noriko coming to a close, at least the flimsy part. When I watch TV and stitch I get distracted – you are more disciplined than I am. 😀
I read several other instances of issues with Edyta’s patterns, you are not alone. I do love her patterns, but I guess you have to expect that going into it. I am soaking in all your experience to remember while I’m working on it.
We finally got our rain – 1.60 inches. There were a couple tornadoes around, but we got nothing severe at all. This morning I will make half my cake recipe for one more layer for a 3-layer cake for our daughter. The party colors are navy blue and gold, so I got some “edible gold luster dust” from Amazon to use on the cake – wish me luck. Hope you have a really good day!
In spite of the cutting issues, the result on Silent Night is lovely! The trees are beautiful in their different colors. I can see why you would want some kind of border – even some narrow strips of the background would contain everything in a good way. I’m going to do that on my Exploding Star quilt, too, with the same blue as the background. Have fun finishing up NS today!
It’s really irritating when patterns are off. It happens more than I would expect. I think we need a drum roll at the completion of Noriko’s Star!
Wow, I wonder if there is an ‘errors’ site for her patterns that you can add to or check out. I know other designers have them listed. Despite that, the quilt is beautiful and love the idea you have for the border. Enjoy your stitching today.
I think the green border would be perfect, there’s enough to draw attention in the quilt itself. Wow that Noriko Star is incredible, it will be gorgeous when finished.
Well that is a bummer that some of the Santa quilt’s measurements were off, but at least if they were to big and you could cut, nothing lost really. YAY! for finishing up the last triangle on NS!
Well done on getting the Santa quilt together despite the pattern errors. Noriko’s star is surging towards being done. I like how your hand quilting shows up on your quilt in the frame.
Too bad about the cutting errors in Silent Night. It’s a beautiful quilt. Personally I think I had added a border, maybe a ‘brick’ border, as you say. Well done on progress on the other quilts too.
How exciting to sew the last hexies! It is indeed a very long term project. Sorry about Silent Night, it looks so pretty but having trouble croping every block is not fun. I love the blue trees! Great progress on Roses, I hope your back is still holding up.
Thank you for sharing your pretty projects and linking up.
A narrow white border and then green bricks sounds like a good finishing round.
