The Corner is Added

Wow – 3 years and 10 1/2 months of English Paper Piecing (EPP by hand) and the top of Noriko’s Star is done – well that is I still need to sew around the edges (I do this 2 times) and cut straight sides – that is why I sew around the edges to make it stronger.  It didn’t rain but it was misting now and then it was chilly, wet, and dark outside, the deck was wet so no photos of the whole top for now – later in the week.  Here is the side I was working on

I need to take the papers out from the black edges and then sew it – all of these papers have been used over and over again so they are all getting tossed as I take them out which goes very quickly.  I have a ton more that haven’t been used so no need to keep these that have been wearing thin.

I added one border strip to Silent Night and that was as far as I got before I went back into the living room to watch some more of the series I was watching while I was working on finishing up the hexies.  Three more strips to go and this quilt top will be done.  It seems I am finishing all three of these quilts at almost the same time!

I got more quilting done on The Rose Garden from Saturday night and doing more on it last night.

I do not have my next hand project ready to go as I am clearing up Noriko’s Star before I get started on that and Silent Night so I have a clear table to start cutting fabric.  I need to see if I have the right size dies for cutting pieces – several will be close and I might not be able to use them – so rotary cutting might be necessary – I’m not buying more dies right now.

Seeing as I had no sewing project to work on while I was watching the news I pulled out my long neglected knitting bag and started back on the second panel of the front of the sweater that I started well over a year ago – maybe two years by now?  I am done with the back and one part of the front – which this piece is – I like the rhythm of knitting but I can never seem to stick with it.  I do need to knit these stitches on to a circular needle though as the sticks are too long to work in the chair comfortable I have to keep moving my arms higher as they bump the side of the chair.  I looked and I have no shorter ones.  I don’t even know if I will wear this in the end I never seem to like them when I actually finish something LOL.  I probably need to go back to crochet only and then I would finish something – or just make afghans and scarfs (which we really don’t need here) – I’m not good at wearable clothing, I’m never happy with the fit.

========================

Green Fairy has charm packs at 40-50% off, quilt kits at 30-50% off, Omni Cone thread at 40% off, and Bella Solids Bolts 40% — I’m not sure how long this sale last a couple days at least sometimes longer.

Congratulations! You’re almost to the finish line on Noriko’s Star top! It’s gorgeous, a true heirloom. I kknow what you mean about not being good at wearable stuff. I have passed way too many things on to my tiny sister when done! I’m knitting a sweater now that is just two rectangles for the body. I have about 5″ left to knit on the first side. Hope it turns out better than I think it will!

Can’t wait to see NS all spread out on your deck. I like the green for the Santa borders. I need to clean the area around my hand work, organize, put some away, and kit a few for winter stitching.

Wow, your Noriko’s star is amazing! That Christmas quilt will be so fun to use this year. Lovely Rose Garden too, I do love a red and cream colorway.

Noriko’s star is fabulous! I’ll be interested to see what your next handwork project will be.

Congratulations on finishing the Noriko’s Star top! That’s an amazing accomplishment. Silent Night and the Rose Garden are coming along, too. I’m curious to see what your next project is. That yarn for your sweater is so pretty – maybe that is what will keep you interested now that you have gotten it back out!

Hooray for Noriko’s Star, what an accomplishment….and more to be made on this beauty. I love that border on the christmas project. Oh, and isn’t it nice that we always have something else to do!

How exciting to have gotten Noriko’s Star that far! Love the border on Silent Night. I wish I could say I was knitting something, but I just can’t quite get the hang of it. Maybe too many years of crocheting?
I would like to be started again in the sewing room after a crazy week last week, but we are dealing with dogs today. A stray followed my husband home Saturday and we’ve been trying to find the owner. She is sweet, well behaved, spayed, and house-broken. We found out she is 4 years old and had a chip, so we are waiting to hear if the owner still wants her. If he doesn’t, and if no one wants her on our community page, we will keep her. Just what we need – another dog – but Hubs loves her. And our neighbors’ 15 yo dog escaped Saturday so we’ve been out looking for her this morning while they had to go back to work this morning. They are frantic. Crazy day!

That is a long time continuously working on one quilt. Stitching around it twice is going to take some time too since it is so large.

That is the reason I stopped knitting sweaters. They never seem to fit nice or were too stiff, or too short. My dishcloths keep my hands busy and knitting keeps me calm while I watch the news.

Congratulations! What an accomplishment! I totally forgot about that sweater but I love that yarn.

Please show us pictures of your finishing techniques on your EPP. Congratulations on the finish.

Noriko’s star is looking fantastic! Yes, I usually do a ‘victory’ lap around the quilt edges, and as yours is all small hexis, I can see why doing a double round would be good.

Yahoo? Congratulations on finishing all the hexies. It is beautiful! ? it’s Glorious! It’s pieced!

Congrats on finishing Noriko’s Star. What a gorgeous labor of love and effort. Definitely worth all the minutes over those almost 4 years. Silent Night is looking good too. You’ll have open places on all hour quilting cards in the next couple of weeks. Looking forward to what you decide to put in each open slot.
