Not a Sewing Day

I had to run to Little Rock for a doctor appointment yesterday (nothing too serious – I was in and out within 30 minutes the drive took double the amount of time)  in the early afternoon so I just didn’t get anything done in the morning as it was a slow moving morning like some of mine are.  I hope to get back to sewing the next Jack’s Chain today or at least get fabric picked out.

I did get some quilting done on Noriko’s Star from Thursday night.  This part is to the left part of the center of the quilt – with the color of the thread changing and the color of the fabric it is hard to get it in a photo at times.

And this part of the center.  I am not putting in near the amount of quilting on this quilt as I have on others but I think it will still be plenty.

The crochet baby blanket or maybe throw size for someone’s couch is proceeding – a couple rows here and there and it will eventually get done – this is made from a basket full of left over balls of yarn from a couple Attic 24 afghans made over the last 5+ years – I think 3 of them? I don’t have any of them anymore the girls took them all.  They are greedy girls (women) when it comes to quilts and afghans.  This is being made with the spike stitch.  No order of color I am mainly just planning on grabbing a ball of yarn after 3-4 rows as long as it is not close to the previous color it will be ok with me.

This is the width of it.  Straighten out it is about 36 inches.

I love the Attic 24 crochet a long blankets so I can see why your daughter’s grabbed them.

I like that spike stitch! That’s going to be a neat afghan.
Lol on your “greedy girls”! Jenni is the same, she would take any quilt I make. It makes me happy because she actually uses them. Some of the people I’ve made quilts for (like my sis-in-law) put theirs in drawers to “keep them nice” (rolling my eyes).
Hope your doc appt went well.

I certainly relieved that your medical appointment was a quick one even if the drive wasn’t. Maybe today will allow you more stitching time.

I didn’t get any sewing time yesterday either – hope to get back to it this afternoon! The new afghan sounds like it will be fun, with the stripes of different colors. A good way to use up that extra yarn. I like it when people use the quilts I make, too – good for your girls for appreciating and using them!

It’s hard to fit in the sewing the days you have errands and have a slow start to your day. Sometimes you just need that slow start. Good to know I’m not unique in having a daughter that often absconds with quilts. She already laid claim to a couple that are still in progress.

I think that looks like enough quilting too. Following the shapes created by colors is the best plan too rather than an all over grid quilting.

I don’t get much done in the mornings either so on the days of afternoon PT I sometimes feel like I didn’t accomplish much all day. I usually get in some night stitching to save the day.

That blanket is going to look awesome in the spike stitch. It will blend the rows really nice.
