I was looking through fabric for the Flowering Snowball block for the RSC quilt and settled on these blues and the neutral fabric will be from these groupings for the neutral parts for the whole quilt – I will cut enough from these for 12 blocks and keep them put aside for if there is more than 12 blocks. The little square will be from this black/white fabric. I thought to do light/dark blues but I think I will do these that I picked out. Normally there is a light blue month, sometimes a dark blue, sometimes a aqua type.
A close up of the neutrals – I was going to use a different stack but they were just used in Noriko’s Star and I felt it was time to use others and these look more old fashioned which is the look I think I will aim at.
I took close ups of different sections of the Noriko’s Star before I rolled the quilt down to start quilting on Tuesday night. I am saving these photos on Instagram as I can find photos there fairly easy and not always on my blog.
Another of the center as the red is hard to see the quilting
And of this section with the X’s – occasionally like this summer when I had surgery or travel and I need to take some time off from quilting and it is possible to forget exactly what I was doing on sections.
This section was quilted on Tuesday night.

You must have an extensive stash of neutrals. I think going with ones different than Noriko’s Star is a good decision…..it’s good to work with new ones 🙂
Those polka dot neutrals are eye catching!
Those are pretty neutrals and blues for your first set of Flowering Snowballs! Are you adding an alternate block in between the snowballs or using just those? I remember one of your inspiration photos had a section of completely different blocks, too. It will be fun to see how this one develops!
I like your blues. Noriko’s Star will belong in a quilt museum when you finish – it is amazing.
We are getting little spits of rain. Wish it would just come a good downpour, we need it so badly.
I think that block will look good in the prints that are a little more old fashioned. I have a bunch of that type too and I think I’ll choose a die to work with them. I like to be working with several different styles of fabric at once.
You picked some fun neutrals for your next project. Very wise to take some detail photos of the quilting and save them in your phone. That’s come in handy for Kate’s Choice when I’m starting to assemble the rows. I can check I’ve got the order right without firing up the computer or trying to search the blog for the last photo of the laid out blocks.
