A Nice/Rainy Day

The day started nice and warmer than usual and I was in and out and all of a sudden by middle of the afternoon it started to get dark and you could tell we were going to get rain.  And we did I need to check the rain gauge and see what we got I forgot to look yesterday.  The weatherman said we need about 12 inches of rain to get out of the drought we are in.  I doubt we even got a half inch but I will take it.  The temperature dropped of course but it was nice enough to sit out on the porch while it rained.  I got one area by the swing on the end of the decking cleaned off using the leaf blower – it was covered with pine needles and dead stuff.  And I saw another variety of daffodil that had opened.

The next Mercantile Block I decided to do purple and then after looking at fabric for awhile I was amazed to realize I am down to these two small boxes of purple – how could that be – most of them are not large pieces either.  I’m really surprised.  I might have a few more batiks in another box – I keep them separated.  I need to look through a few more boxes to see if I have anymore stashed somewhere else but I don’t think I do.  You know what this means – I will need to start looking for purple fabric and I said I was only getting what is necessary but this counts – right – it is hard to pick pieces for scrappy with little pieces.  Time to look for fat quarters on sale in purple.  Linking to Alycia Quilts

I did decide on these three seeing as only needed 3 I managed but for the Flowering Snowball I need big pieces.  The center needs a 2.5″ piece and I think that print will do fine that I have the square ruler on.

A close up of that print – if I can get the seam right I will have the complete design – I will need to pay attention.  The background pieces that Lori Holt the pattern/quilt maker used are pretty but I wasn’t going to buy the big fat quarter bundle that she had for it.  Maybe at prices from five years ago I would have but not as they are now.

I finished adding the red piece in the second row of the Jigsaw Puzzle and laid out the next two pieces – I really need to try to work on this one more and get it done – it is a small piece – just a lot of stitching.

The rain while sitting on the porch – that is the neighbors work garage in blue across the road.  Far enough away that you can vaguely hear him talking from time to time if he is loud, but not make out the words.  The right distance in my mind.

What a neat fabric for your block centre. The print is the perfect size.

A nice afternoon rain would be lovely 🙂 Our forecast has a chance of snow one day next week followed by changes of rain the rest of the week. Our daffodils are not up yet….yours look beautiful.

We have been on high alert for fires this week due to the dry, windy conditions. We may have a chance of rain early next week, and I hope they are right. I love your fabric choices.

Your purples are pretty. I need to head to Hobby Lobby and get some basics. They have been putting their fabrics 30% off every other week. I have a lot of prints but not any pretty colored solids or close to solids.
You got rain while it was clear skies here. Sitting on the porch while it rains sounds nice. I don’t miss a lot about our acreage – especially the dusty dirt road in front of the property – but I do miss sitting on the big deck we built.

It sounds so nice to get some rain! We are so dry here – scary dry. Those purples will be pretty for the next Mercantile block! I’m always curious to know what the next color of the month will be for the RSC.

I am thinking we need more snow back home or it will be dry for us this year, unless we get nice spring rains. I went to a fabric/garage sale this morning, I was there 7 minutes after opening and the fabric was all sold already to one group of five ladies:(

I’m enjoying all of the Daffodil photos. It’s nice to have a variety of them and my favorite is the yellow with orange center.
We’re still in moderate drought and haven’t gotten much moisture all winter.

It’s always surprising when you go looking for a given scrap color and discover that you don’t have much in that color. You still have some fun choices for the next block. We need rain badly, but it’s on the forecast for tomorrow. Fingers crossed we get some, the fire danger hasn’t been fun the last couple of weeks.
