I now have another Mercantile Sampler block done, this is 17 out of 25 now done. I am linking to Melva Loves Scraps
I got the applique done and it is on the wall with the others – I will move blocks around when I get done to get color, dark, light moved around to satisfy me.
Noriko’s Star from Saturday night
I got block number 4 for the Sewcialite3 quilt – I call it The General after the fabric line. It is ready to sew
I have a doctor appointment in Little Rock for a follow up to the Collagenous Colitis that developed after surgery in August – I am more like to get something happen to me from surgery (side affects surgery can trigger autoimmune diseases that is why I avoid surgery unless I absolutely have to have it) because of my autoimmune disease and this is another one – at least it went away with medication but it is a medication that I need to keep on hand in case it comes back. So I don’t know how much sewing I will get done with today – for the coming 2 weeks I have 4 appointments- I hate when they all land at once – all follow up routine things except the mammogram and that is yearly. Just plan to go for the appointment though and no shopping as I need to go back next week for my 3 month check up with my rheumatologist and my Prolia injection. If we need shopping done we will do it then.
The front went through and the temperature was dropping late afternoon and will all evening – before the rain started I went outside to check and make sure the coverings were over the plants still and the wind didn’t disturb them – they were ok, but I was mad to see the azaleas are opening – the last thing I wanted with the freeze – 4 years ago they were damaged and 3 about dead and even now they are barely coming back. Not all buds are open but I don’t know if that will make much of a difference.
The Redbud trees are looking good I’m really not sure how they will be affected by the cold in this area they are very colorful.
The tiger lilies are coming up – I swear everything is a month early. Vinca is mixed in all over the place – I got a flat once years ago and planted them in several places – now instead of getting a flat I just go to different sections of the yard and dig some out to put in other places!! Same with the tiger lilies started with one that washed in and now they are all over the place.

Fingers crossed everything survived the hard freeze. The wind here was pretty miserable, we even got a bit of snow. The Mercantile quilt is looking good. Hope your appointment goes well and you can get in a bit of stitching time when you get back.
Wishing your plants good luck surviving the freeze and you safe travels to your various appointments.
You got some nice work done in your sewing room. I’d be mad too about the azalea blooms – hopefully they will not be affected too much. Good luck with your doc appointments. They do seem to all come at once don’t they!
It got up to 80° here yesterday, and at 1:30pm the front blasted through and temps started falling. We got no rain, it all formed east of us. I gave in and covered the onions with an old quilt last night, and it is 31° right now. I’ll water them today – when I was out there last night I noticed how very dry the garden. It was muddy just 2 days ago, but this wind!
The front came through here too, but it was dry with high dusty winds. Fortunately it didn’t freeze so the trees blooming in our area should be okay. Your blue Mercantile block is pretty. Sometimes blues can be tricky to work with.
Those are both pretty blocks – love the blues in the Mercantile blocks and the neat layout if the General block! We are a month ahead with all the trees and plants here, too. Hope the freeze doesn’t hurt all your pretty blooms. I hope all goes well with the doctor appointments – it’s always good to get those over with!
Just read your latest posts. Yes you do need those very good covers for your garden. So much early bloom! I’m very envious and it looks like spring there. Meanwhile, all your stitching is progressing steadily as it does in your capable hands. Are the Mercantile blocks tricky to sew? They are so lovely all together on the wall. Good luck with the appointments and careful with your back. J
That is a perfect little center for your blue block. All of the blocks are looking good together.
You had a good amount of time to enjoy the Redbud blooms and I doubt if the cold weather will affect the leaf growth that is next. We have partly sunny conditions now so even at 24 degrees we might get a little melting of the 2-3″ of snow.
Nature seems to think that spring was ready to happen, and then Mother Nature changed her mind. I hope all of the plants and trees are hardy and survive the cold.
Your Mercantile blocks are so interesting. To see the traditionally square blocks made round is like seeing them in a new way! What size are the blocks?
I have missed blog hopping since my recent cold and hacking of my site. How wonderful to see all your projects. Your hand quilting is so pretty and continuous. I admire your skills and patience. Your mercantile blocks are amazing; each block prettier than the next. And the Sewcialites: love the French General fabrics. I haven’t even started mine. It is truly special to see the spring arrive elsewhere. ( We are in a blizzard today!) My favorite is the redbud; I just love how it blossoms so delicately. We don’t get much up here. be careful with your vinca vines; they like to take over.
I hope everything survives. It’s a heartbreak when you wait all year to see this spring beauty and the cold destroys it. At my age, a year is nothing to scoff at.
