Mistakes

While finally after taking rows apart several times I finally got all the pieces turned around correctly – the moral – don’t sew when you are tired LOL!!!

Mercantile Sampler block ready for the rows to be sewed together.  Which I waited to do until today as I didn’t want to make one more mistake!!

Noriko’s Star from Tuesday – I think from the last post I posted the wrong photo for what was done but this is the correct photo for both nights combined.

From the honeycomb papers using the William Morris fabric I was able to thread baste just fine – it takes a little longer than the hexagons do but it is nice using a different shape.  Two next to each other looks great. I will leave the dark center in on this blue one but most dark colors will have light centers and light colors will have dark centers.  I have not come up with a name.  I heard some say people are making a coverlet right now (no batting) and it goes by the name “The George Coverlet” based on an old quilt.  I don’t really want that name and mine will be a quilt with batting,  I might just refer to it as Honeycomb but I’m not sure yet.  I will get to work on it more when the Jigsaw Puzzle is done.  I have 5 charm packages that I purchased on sale and a stack of left over Morris from an older project.  Plenty for a couch size – wall size – something more than a table covering – again – no rush just working as I wish.  The paper isn’t holding the work quite flat so the the tops and some sides don’t look square in the photo but they are.  You join the sides and put another tiny square on the top and bottoms sides and connect more

Your title has given me ear worms….and bad mistakes, I’ve made a few……from Queen’s We are the Champions AND that led to ……regrets, I’ve had a few, but then again too few to mention from My Way by Frank Sinatra, LOL. It will be fun seeing your new EPP project develop. Maybe a different name will come to you.

The orientation of HSTs in a block will get you every time. I pretty much have to lay those kind of blocks out on the design wall and pin immediately. If I move to the sewing table to pin, I somehow manage to pin the wrong side. Your new hand stitching project is going to very pretty. Sometimes you have get into a project before a name sticks.

Haha on reading Cherie’s comment! Mine came from “Honeycomb” and now I have the old Jimmie Rodgers 50s song running through my head – lol!
Those honeycombs are really cute. That yellow Merc is very pretty.
Yesterday I went with Hubs to a first checkup with a new PCP, and we really liked her. Today I’ll get started back on my sewing routine – finally got both rooms pretty much like I want them. The fabric and some of my project trays got messed up in the move, so organization will take place at some point, but today will just be play day.
Are you ready for the icky hot weather coming? 🙁

Those are pretty yellows in that new block – so sunny! I hate when I make mistakes like that, too, just from being tired. Sometimes you do just have to put it away for the day. Those Honeycomb blocks are going to be fun to watch as you make more of them!

On my recent pumpkin stack triplets I made the same mistake on two of those triplets, and it was not that it was hard but my mind wandered and I cut wrong and sewed wrong! So we both had a date with Jack!

The extra work turned out to be worth the effort. It’s a beautiful block!

You got that right, don’t sew (or do any crafting ) when tired. I get clumsy and make mistakes when tired.
Your projects are all looking great!

I couldn’t open your blog the last few days…I assume it was something on my end as I rebooted yesterday and cleared out my cookies and that may have cleared up the problem. I like the nice sunny yellow you chose for your block. I have (had) an EPP project going with the honeycomb shapes, but mine was the Lucy Boston blocks. I would pull it out, but I have no idea where I put it! I think yours will be really pretty with the William Morris fabrics.

That is the Kansas Dugout block with the hexagons, or at least a version of it. I know better than so sew when I’m tired too but still do it occasionally. I mostly end up with fabrics wrong side up when there isn’t a big difference in the 2 sides.

Your mistake is nothing like the mistakes I made today on my veterans quilt! I’ll be fixing it this weekend.

Are the yellow rectangles turned correctly? They seem taller on one side.
